Observations from my dodge durango rental this week.

-Looks like a mini van
-Way more space than 4runner. Fold flat seats. It's a large vehicle.
-No driving assist standard. This is bad in 2026.
-The 3.6 v6 and 8 speed are great. Absolutely better feeling than my 4runner, probably not more powerful.but smoother and sounds good.
-There are way too many buttons on the dash, but overall a nice cabin with lots of soft touch.
-I would never buy a dodge.

Oh I forgot. 500 plus miles of range with the 25 gallon tank is a win for durango.

Traded a 19' GT Durango for this 4R, only had 36K when I traded it in and to be honest, it was one of the best multi use vehicles I've owned. Can't say how it would have held up long term.

Yuck. I rented a Durango last fall. What a crappy vehicle in every way, shape, and form.
In fact, the list of vehicles I've rented in the last couple of years included a Rogue (inscrutable user-experience. How you you put this thing in reverse?!), a Jeep Compass (complete garbage. The active lane assist kept failing and telling me to go to a dealer), and a RAV4 (good user-experience but too small for my needs).

Interesting. As I said in my original post I personally would never buy a dodge, but i dont think the durango is a "crappy vehicle in every way". The powertrain is better than the 4runner. Smoother engine and smoother transmission. The materials in the cabin are nicer than my my trd off road and the durango costs 10k less.
They are two very different vehicles, but if I wanted 3 rows, didnt care about BOF/off-road, and trusted dodge I would absolutely buy a 39k durango instead of my 49k 4runner.

I am a toyota fan (2 4runners, 2 corollas, a land cruiser and a prius) but they absolutely are fleecing us customers in some ways. Cloth seats and zero soft touch materials for 50k? But I bought one anyways... lol.
