Dashcam installation with Dongar Pro (Update: Now Fixed & Working)

Just confirming, this is a 10-pin type B dongar adapter? I’m picking up my ORP this Saturday and planning to put my viofo a119 in it as well.

Not sure since I used the Dongar Pro which isn’t a standard interface method.

I just ordered a dongar pro. I noticed they recommend the roof-cavity install on their website. Any idea why they recommend roof-cavity install over the rearview mirror connection? Rearview mirror looks a whole lot easier to remove than the roof-cavity panel...

If you don’t have an auto dimming mirror you have no choice but to use the ceiling pod.

My 25 SR5 came with a factory installed dashcam. What is the biggest thing you guys use them for? Are they just for accident information or theft?

The factory installed is in a bad location for taller drivers.

For my part I'm planning on getting a wolfbox 3-channel, or something if not that, because I want a front bumper parking cam. I have an SR5 and have no front cam and no front parking sensors, and already stuffed my front bumper into a trailer tongue that I couldn't see at all and forgot it was there. I was nowhere near the trailer...if it was the back of the trailer which looks exactly the same.

Also others have reported that the toyota dash cam has low image quality compared to a lot of aftermarket. There is another thread somewhere here where they said you can't read license plates in the oem dash cam.

It records motion events while parked and I've never had issues starting the vehicle. I assume it has a low voltage detector built in that prevents battery drain, like most of the cams I've used, but I'm not sure.

It should be easy to remove. If you don't plan to reinstall it, you can probably get a few bucks for it on FB marketplace.

most dashcams have a setting for battery voltage. i think viofo can be set to 12.4v and turns off (i think you can set it within a pre set range in the menu)
