Budget Skid Plate Install: Rough Country on My 6th Gen 4Runner SR5
Hey everyone! Just installed the Rough Country skid plate kit on my 6th-gen 4Runner SR5 and wanted to share a quick overview.

I was looking for basic underbody protection without spending a ton of money, and this kit fit what I wanted for a budget-friendly upgrade.

Installation
  • Install time: About 30 minutes for me.
  • Tools: Basic hand tools.
  • Vehicle: 6th-gen Toyota 4Runner SR5.
  • Kit: Rough Country front and belly skid plate kit, part #75013.
My thoughts
If you’re on a budget and looking to add basic protection underneath your 4Runner, this kit is worth considering. My goal was a simple, affordable upgrade—not a dedicated heavy-duty rock-crawling setup.

I documented the installation on YouTube so you can see the process and how it looks installed. Hopefully, it helps anyone considering the same upgrade!

Anyone else running this kit on their 6th gen? How has it held up for you?

What’s the downside to this? It seems like a no brainer to me. Most other options I’ve seen are at least double or triple the price? I guess the more expensive ones are a lot thicker so will be better in extreme rock crawling and rubicon level trails but for the average off-roader these seem fantastic for the price.

Thanks for the video!
