I didnāt read the whole thread, so my apologies if I missed this, but is this issue still happening on recent build dates? In other words no change to factory assembly of the brakes to address this?
I don't have my 4Runner yet, but on my Merc, you had to have the mirror adjustment selector set to a particular position before the mirror would tilt down automatically. Has your mirror selector switch moved?
I have an Odyssey AGM in my FJ with the diode. Itās worked wonderfully for years with a winch and dual compressor putting heavy loads on it at times. Iām concerned that the stock battery in the 4Runner will not be able to power a winch for more than 10 seconds. So I would like to upgrade it to a...
Youāre on a roll with affordable upgrades! Thanks. Canāt wait to see what you come up with next.
(Ps⦠https://www.4runner6g.com/forum/threads/does-anyone-make-frame-mounted-sliders-steps-for-less-than-1000.13090/)
Im old-school but I think itās a greedy money grab to lock features behind a monthly subscription. And itās a slippery slope. Every generation, more and more features will be locked behind a pay wall that cost more and more over time.
Just look at what Mercedes and BMW are doing⦠$1200/year to...
Iām sure youāre right about how companies perceive it⦠otherwise someone would have addressed this need by now.
But I feel that the market is probably bigger and less niche than you suggest. I believe off-road enthusiasts like me that go out on moderate trails a couple of times a year are...
I think thereās a gap in the market for a product that has the quality of a running board like bonrunnerās, that mounts to the frame. The value prop of such a product is that for off road enthusiasts, it provides a step for the wifu, while not creating a liability for body damage. If it takes an...
Hey BTW, I love the white and black heritage lettering on the grill of your rig⦠how did you do that? Is that a Trailhunter grill piece with some custom painting? Or how did you do that?
Sorry if I came across the wrong way. I recognize the value of these and other good body mounted steps but they also add some risk Iād like to avoid.
I think youāre right. Sadly nothing exists. Iām in Canada and the pricing here is ridiculous. Cali Raised reseller here wants $1450 for the basic raw slider and $1850 for the plates and powder coating. Itās hard to justify.
Thanks but body mounted steps are increasing the risk of damage not decreasing it⦠they act as a lever multiplying any torque from impact onto those thin body sheet metal mounts and adding to the risk of thousands of dollars in auto body work from hitting a rock or a log. Too risky.
I donāt need Rubicon-level protection with kick outs but I want something that could take a bit of impact or scraping without damaging the body while allowing my wife to easy step aboard. I basically want more of a running board that mounts to the frame - thatās cheap. Does anything like this...
Iām curious if anyone has considered a small 10mm (3/8ā) spacer and going down a notch or two on their 5100s?
Of course using a spacer can create problems at full droop if it allows the CV angle to exceed operating tolerances. But my understanding is that Toyota builds a bit of tolerance into...
Im not familiar with the suspension in the OP but some general theory on lifts and CVsā¦
Of course, if you lift, youāre pushing the front differential up relative to the hub on the wheel, so the CV angle increases. Max droop is controlled by shock length (plus any spacer) so if you have not...
I havenāt got my truck yet but following this as I may also try this. I wonder if this would be easier if the bolts that hold the sway bar bushings to the frame were loosened a half turn or just enough so the sway bar could be moved by up and down by hand with some force. That way, lining it up...
If you really like the Alpharex, I would investigate why the Alpharex canāt replace the Rigid. Are they saying that because of the wiring in the Trailhunter (not realizing the Pro doesnāt have the dual mode)? if this is the case, maybe itās not that they are incompatible with Rigid equipped...
Whatās the downside to this? It seems like a no brainer to me. Most other options Iāve seen are at least double or triple the price? I guess the more expensive ones are a lot thicker so will be better in extreme rock crawling and rubicon level trails but for the average off-roader these seem...
