Before spending money on upgrading any audio equipment in the 6th Gen 4Runner, I would recommend trying one simple thing first: replace the front dash speaker.

In my experience, this makes a huge improvement in sound quality. In my video, I’m showing the 5th Gen 4Runner SR5 speaker that I connected in the dash. It is not necessarily super loud, but the sound quality is noticeably better.

You will probably need to adjust the bass, mid, and treble settings based on your personal taste. I actually prefer having more sound coming from the rear speakers, so I keep my settings that way.

As for the speakers, Kicker is just one option. I think Pioneer or Kenwood might be a better match, but I was trying to keep this upgrade on a budget, which is why I went with Kicker.

So, before doing a complete audio system upgrade, try replacing the front dash speaker first. It’s a simple and relatively inexpensive change that can make a big difference.

Thanks!
