Apple Carplay keeps interrupting Radio

I cant be the only one this issue is happening to. I have my iPhone connected to my 4Runner for Apple Carplay. Whenever I want to listen to the radio, maybe 30 seconds later Carplay takes over and thinks I want to use it as an audio source. I switch back to radio and carplay continues to switch back and interrupt the radio. How have you all dealt with this situation?

Edit: BTW I've google searched and tried their solutions of forgetting devices on both sides. Closing all apps. etc.... Keeps switching.

You can go to settings under your profile name =>> your phone , you can switch between calls , Bluetooth music and CarPlay. If you don’t want popping up CarPlay, just choose another two choices

Hey, thanks for the reply. I'd still like to use carplay as an audio source as I use the maps, podcasts, music apps, etc.. The issue is when I'm trying to use the Radio or Sirius XM that after about 30 seconds the infotainment switches audio source to carplay leaving radio unusable.

I am having this issue with a new 2026 Trailhunter I just bought. I have tried rebooting my phone, and that seemed to work at first, but the problem may have come back. I need to track it for a few days.

thank god i dont have that issue with AA. most of the time it just connects via the toyota app and AA never turns on (even though i have it set to auto start when the vehicle starts).

rarely do i use the map function (not really needed in ND).

i use my 7in garmin on trips to ATL as i have a pre-planned route built into the garmin unit to go see my mom. so i always take the same route to and from ATL from ND.
