Am planning to take my daughter and her boyfriend on an excursion to Bald Mountain on Saturday morning. Was planning an early arrival (8ish) at Coal Rd entry but would delay an hour or two if others would join.Anyone going out this weekend on the 18th or 19th and doing any of the above trails? I am looking at doing Rausch creek Aug. 1 as well not positive yet may be tight sched working out of town and get back Friday evening and it is a 3 hr drive from my area.

How is Bald Mtn for beginners and a stock SR5? Ive got family up there and could make a trip out of it sometime in the future.(Potential) NOVA 4Runner friends: Per entries above, I've got two trips planned and would welcome others to join if interested.
First one is rather short notice: 7/18 (tomorrow) morning ride on Bald Mtn. Meeting location: Intersection of Forest Road, 162 & Coal Rd, Stuarts Draft, VA 24477. North end of the trail as it shows on onX. Big Levels 4X4 Trail - Coal Road Entry. Aiming to be there about 8:30 AM but can flex several hours on start time if others are interested. (DM me)
I'm signed up for the Hard Green and Easy Blue guided ride @ Rausch Creek on 8/1. I got there in <2.5 hours last time from Vienna leaving at 5:15 to be there for the 8:15 meet time. A bit early for some, but really an awesome off-roading venue. And doing the guided tour makes things easy - and no more expensive than not having a guide. Let me know if you might be there. I was the only non-jeep on my last trip and we need to represent:>)
Challenging but very doable for stock SR5 on main trail. Its probably closer to a 4 rating right now than the 5 that onX gives it because the most significant challenge are deep mud holes that are not so deep now given the drought situation. Alternate trail is more challenging - probably a solid 5 for rock ledges, etc.How is Bald Mtn for beginners and a stock SR5? I will find out tomorrow heading up there with Mike D.How is Bald Mtn for beginners and a stock SR5? Ive got family up there and could make a trip out of it sometime in the future.
