Just updated my phone to 18.6.2 and CarPlay doesn’t work unless directly connected with the wire. I always get the “connection interrupted” error.

I’ved tried:

1. Holding power button to turn off and on infotainment screen (reset)
2. Removed phone from car
3. restarted my phone (multiple times)
4. Turned on and off wifi
5. Turned on and off CarPlay in settings
6. Confirmed no new software update on infotainment screen
7. Made sure when reconnecting, I follow the steps very carefully on my phone (tried multiple times)

to note, everything worked perfectly until the most recent update.

assuming the last step is dealership? lol.

Im on 18.6.2 and drove today without any issues.....today. For some reason my CarPlay will randomly just disconnect and I have to manually reconnect it.

No issues with 18.6.2 here and not having any connections issues with AirPlay yet either.

This is the only thing that’s driving me crazy! It’s all Toyotas and CarPlay in general I think? I rented a RAV4 on the other side of the country while on a business trip, same issues!

I believe I may have finally figured out the issue with CarPlay connectivity.

1. If you have the integrated DashCam, connect to it.
2. Select the option to “Forget This Network“ in WiFi. You will still be able to go ba and manually connect at a later time.
3. Even if you don’t have the AT&T WiFi service, connect to it in WiFi and choose the option to auto-connect.
4. Turn off the vehicle.
5. Turn on the vehicle.
6. Reconnect to CarPlay from the vehicle’s settings in the infotainment scree.

It sounds like your Carplay is not connecting wirelessly. Delete the phone from the car, and the car from the phone.. reboot the phone, and turn the car off.. reconnect the phone with Bluetooth, and then attach carplay.

For those with carplay disconnecting.. carplay (and android auto) is using a wifi connection. Carply uses the Bluetooth connection to initialize, then fires up a private wifi network for the carplay connection. This connection is HIGHLY susceptible to interference (as is any wifi connection). the cage of the car cuts this interference down quite a bit. It is easy to go into settings and reconnect carplay or android auto on the fly.
