For those interested here's my rear storage / pullout build so far. I chose lightweight aluminum extrusion vs wood and extremely happy with how it's turning out and farrrrr lighter than wood. Input and opinions welcomed.

Love it. How did you attach it to the floor/stop it from rocking with the slides out? What resources did you use for planning it out?

It's not attached yet as I need to remove it to finish the drawer side on the left. As for resources, I'm a hobbiest woodworker so basically envisioned it and made it happen. Not plans whatsoever. Got on Amazon and ordered the aluminum and brackets. Took some measurements, made some cuts, and watched it evolve lol.

Which brackets did you use, specifically for the slides?
The slide out is from Overland Vehicle Systems. Although the quality seems solid, they definitely lack in the customer service department. It's like pulling teeth to get them to answer the phone. That said I'd recommend the slide out.

Squatch25, love it. Great work. Does the bottom pullout when fully extended work as a cooktop? Where would the heat source come from?

The framework is custom built by myself out of aluminum extrusions from Amazon. You can use either 8020 or 2020 and then the appropriate brackets based on your design. As for the slide out that entire unit came from Overland Vehicle Systems. I attached that to the aluminum rails with tslot type nuts and bolts through the bottom mounting holes in the slide out box. They aren't as large as the typical mounting bolts that would be used with wood so I used a total of 8. Understand that this is still a work in progress so whether or not the smaller bolts will hold up is yet to be determined. Hopefully that helps. I can add some photos of the bolts etc later on as well.

Thank you. Yes if you look at pics 8 and 9 those show the cooktop part. I haven't purchased a grill yet but leaning towards one of the Blackstone grills. Either the 14" or 20"

A few of you wanted additional photos of the framework and mounting hardware. I had to take the frame out to do some tweaking for fitment so while do so I snapped a few more pics for y'all. Everything shown was found on Amazon. Drawer slides still haven't been delivered but once the drawer is built and installed I'll update again. I don't have a scale but lifting it and a 2x4 they are very close in weight so the aluminum 2020 is a huge weight saver for sure. Enjoy!

Great work. Thank you for sharing. What length extrusions did you find to be most economical for your design?

Thanks

I ordered 2 packs of 48" and 2 packs of 15" with very little leftover.
