Most likely there will be no changes from 2026 to 2027. Except maybe a small price increase.

Did you use the search inventory feature on Toyota's website? You could probably find one sooner.

if you want to wait for a 27, the earliest you could see one on a major dealer lot is january, waiting for one close to the options you want could push you out to march/april.

If you want a non-AI SpyRunner, I would look at picking up a 2026 model. More than half of Toyota's line up have the AI camera's installed prior to the 2027 mandate and in those models its currently an option to turn off the cameras. Once the mandate goes into effect next year, I have a feeling that an update will be pushed and won't allow owners to bypass the already installed camera system. The Tacomas and 4Runners are one of the last remaining models without pre-mandate cameras.

The 2027 Federal Mandate
Driven by Section 24220 of the infrastructure act, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has pushed to standardize passive AI surveillance tech. [1]
    • How it works: Infrared cameras mounted on the steering column or A-pillar scan the driver's biometric signs of drowsiness or alcohol impairment. [1]
    • Vehicle Intervention: If the AI determines you are impaired or not paying attention, the system can prevent the car from starting or limit speeds. [1, 2]
    • Current Status: While the NHTSA rule has faced some development delays, automakers are preparing for a 2-3 year implementation rollout as soon as final rules are established. [1, 2]

I actually have been looking daily within 500miles from my locations and not a single one had come up . Until recently but had way more than I wanted or need and the dealership told me they couldn’t remove anything “mud guards” and minuscule things that could easily be removed. And it would be sold as is !
