2026 Trailhunter mud flaps for Maine winters - looking for owner experiences

I'm looking for mud flaps for a stock 2026 4Runner Trailhunter, and I'm hoping to hear from people who have real-world experience rather than just opinions.

My use case is probably a little different than many buyers. This is primarily a daily driver in southern Maine. I don't plan to run larger tires or lift the vehicle, and I don't do serious off-roading. My priority is protecting the paint and rocker panels from gravel, sand, road salt, slush, and winter road spray.

One situation I do encounter is occasionally backing through a packed snowbank left by the plow early in the morning before I have time to completely clear the driveway. Because of that, I'm looking for a flap that is flexible enough to deflect without cracking or folding into the tire, but stiff enough that it doesn't flutter or "sail" at highway speeds.

On my RAM 2500 I've had Duraflaps for about six years, and they've been excellent. They provide good coverage, flex when needed, and have held up well through Maine winters. Unfortunately, Duraflap doesn't currently offer a kit for the 6th-gen 4Runner.

The things that matter most to me are:

- Good coverage of the painted wheel opening and rocker area.
- Minimal gaps or cutouts that leave painted surfaces exposed.
- Uses factory mounting locations (or only minimal drilling in the plastic liner).
- Material that remains durable in cold weather.
- Doesn't flutter excessively at highway speeds.

If you've installed mud flaps on a 6th-gen 4Runner, I'd appreciate hearing:

1) Which brand and size did you choose?
2) How have they held up in winter?
3) Have you had any issues with snow, ice, or gravel?
4) If you were buying again for a stock-height vehicle used mostly on-road, would you buy the same ones?

I'm currently leaning toward ARK or Rally Armor, but I'm open to hearing about other options if you've had good long-term results.

I just installed the Rokblokz Rally Mudflaps on my SR5 last week. Obviously, I cannot speak to the winter performance, but I think it checks the boxes for the things that matter to you (good coverage, no gaps, no-drilling factory install locations, and I have not found it to flutter at highway speeds).

My use case is mostly for 95% on-road driving with a little bit of 5% beach driving, maybe some light off-road.

If I had to do it again, I'd consider the ARK flaps only due to the way it looks lol. I kind of like the look of the ARK better but it may just be a case of me, coming from a sedan, not really used to the aesthetics of large mudflaps. I'd also get their splash guards as well, which is something I'm considering down the line. But there is nothing wrong with the Rokblokz to be clear, just an aesthetic preference more than anything else. The Rally Armor flaps look good too, but at 2X the cost, the glossy look, and I don't believe they have a black-out option for the logo, I passed on those.

Considerations:

RokBlokz Rally: Look good, but the Trailhunter only has "high clearance" option available and that leaves some exposed bodywork (painted) in the front, at least, so not an option I'll consider.

TufSkinz: Conservative design, that I do like, but I'm unsure of the width and coverage based on pictures I've seen.

Rally Armor: Expensive, but if they are the best and work with the features I want, so be it. I do not like the gloss finish at all and there is an aesthetic component to this as well.

ARK Full: So far, the best I've seen that match my requirements. Their chatbot seemed sure the Maine cold wouldn't adversely affect the material or my experience and that the full length was probably best.
