For a turbo engine, I'd pay more attention to a Euro formulation with ACEA C3, MB 229.52, VW 504/507. They typically have better HTHS properties, which was one of the driving factors for my switch to Mobil 1 5w30 ESP. But, your engine, your choice!
Machining tolerances do seem to tighten to a degree, but the engineers are not going to design a system without taking into consideration operating environments globally and individual use. There’s a reason international manuals indicate optional viscosities. Chat is not always correct or...
I switched to 5w30 ESP here in Houston. Absolutely zero justification to stay with a 0 or a 20 for hot weather climates. The turbo is going to shear the oil down to roughly a 16 by the time you run an oci. Mine was already in the low 7’s/6’s on 0w20. International manuals indicate you can use...
just order your oil and toyota filter from walmart with delivery (free btw). Cheapest place I've found the toyota filter and the oil is dirt cheap too. Never trust the dealer... know your part numbers before going if you absolutely need to.
Aside from the long oci claim, I don't see the draw to Amsoil. While I'm sure it's a high quality product, how does the formulation put it above other quality brands? I don't see the "OMG this is better than everything else on the market" data.
it's a one time install. you don't remove it for oil changes, just attach the drain hose adapter and the oil comes out. No maintenance aside from wiping off any oil drops after removing the drain hose. You can leave them on for decades. The fumoto valve is also an option, and has very similar...
You're not wrong! I have had bad experiences with dealers and simply choose to avoid them for everything. I do my own service, so it's easy. And yes, opinions are what they are. I was simply indicating that a high detergent formulation is overkill on a new engine where deposits haven't even...
