According to Toyota, that's the correct way. Check the sticker under the plastic cap on the mounting foot. My intuition tells me the smooth/round edge would be the front, but Toyota must know better than me.
So I did come across that sticker when I took the covers off to adjust the spacing. They're installed with the "Front" sticker facing the front, but it still doesn't make sense to me that the side with the less aerodynamic "lip" would somehow be the front.
I went with the ones they show fitting the Tacoma. No vibrations. The fitment and build quality was spot on.

By the way, the OEM fog lights are the same across Tacoma, 4Runner, Tundra, and Sequoia. I don't want to say Tacoma brackets will fit, but there's a good chance. Let me see if I can ask one of my contacts at DD if they've tried to fit their Tacoma kit into the 4Runner yet. Headlight footprint is...
Yes, new bars! They announced them last year at SEMA. They have a video out on them from the announcement on their youtube. They replicate the design styling of the pods and include backlighting like the rest of their lineup.
Not specifically, but they own a 6th gen and they have some test fitting going on for their new release bars that should come out later this year. They swapped in a pro/trailhunter lower grille to fit in their lights where the OEM lighter will be. They will also have a kit out for fog light...
That's correct. Personal preference, I don't run the backlight on clear, sunny days. Dawn, dusk, nighttime, or inclement weather is when I typically have the backlight on. I think tying into DRL is tricky since the DRL function is just the headlights on low power. I don't believe there is a...
Had the pleasure to be a featured vehicle in the annual @Diode Dynamics car show and open house this past weekend. Took my 6th gen around the rally course a few times and had a blast!
@ryno was posted up front and center at the show entrance to show off his build as well. If you're near the...
That should be the miles left on your suggested service interval. There is a little wrench that should show up next to that number when it pops up, and then the actual ODO reading shows and the wrench icon goes away. That's a very odd number to be showing, though. The default should start at 10k...
Odd question, and this is somewhat related to wind noise issues - are my crossbars installed backwards? I only noticed a couple days ago during a wash that the lipped end is facing the front and the rounded end is facing the rear. Both are oriented this way. It seems like that would be...
No hood Struts. I do know Diode Dynamics is working on their updated brackets, and the lights mount "forward" over the hood, rather than over the cowl like the CBI. I will probably switch to those when they come out because I prefer that mounting orientation.
I've noticed a terrible smell the next day after driving in rain or after a car wash. It smells as though the carpet has gotten wet and developed a wet mildewy smell. It's not the A/C, because after a few dry days the smell does not appear. I've felt all around different areas on the carpet and...
Just had a dumb realization. The spacers for the Tacoma are the correct specs, considering the hubs are the same. And yes, I neglected to check the sticky. Didn't occur to me to do so.
