I watch the oil temperature dummy sensors on my Dash, and have been doing so since day one. I've also taken off the air dam from day two.
I have always seen that it takes a fair amount of time for the transmission / gear oils to warm.
Now probably a more accurate way would be to have an OBD2...
No you can always tell the manufacturer date by the decal that is applied to the door pillar on the driver side.
That will have a manufactured date . And it will be very clear like 08/25/25. Just my two cents
Hellfire! I just use a long extension cord and drag whatever wood I can find nearby that reaches my electric Black & Decker CS that I got from the depot.
Used to use that with my 5th gen at the campsites and everybody would get a laugh when I used it to cut firewood. Just remember the engine...
I also did a deep dive into the 275 70 18 fitment on Factory orp wheels. It was mixed with some saying that there was some rub but not sure if it was on the SR5 model. Others said that there were no fitment issues, While others said they used a backspacer of 1 in to pop the tire out a bit. But...
Just wondering how that OBD2 tool is working for you and what app you decided to run with it. I'm looking specifically for something that will read my transmission temperature. I have been using an infrared heat gun tool. Thanks in advance
Hello, sorry to bug you with more questions.
When you did your Westcott lift, I see you used a 1 in top hat and you didn't mention if you used a 2 in lift below that.?
Also on your tires I see you use the 275 70 18 in, I'm thinking strongly to going with that size but I also see that you put...
A 1.5 to 2.0 lift should be fine leaning more toward the 1.5.
And you need an alignment after any suspension mods.
My 5th gen took a 2-in but it was right on the Edge, and I mean right on the edge of being totally out.
And I had method Wheels that I'm pretty sure we're 9 inch width along with...
Well I don't normally give cars a name, but when I sold my RAV4 hybrid to the girlfriend after only having it for one year with less than 8k miles on it! .
She said I was nuts to sell it, although she got a pretty good deal!. Then after she saw the new 4Runner and me fiddling with it.
She says...
My dealership guy didn't even know what it was! And after mentioned it he said he would check it out. I did my own research with other dealerships and they said no it doesn't come with it.
I suspect at the Port they might or might not add one depending on who's doing the prep!
Mine did not...
Yes I totally agree, some of these builds like a drawer systems! Can get very heavy and that's not loaded up with gear.
And the list goes on of added weight.
I tend to build from the suspension up, meaning the type of driving I'm going to do and what type of off- roads I'm driving on.
I did...
This being my third 4Runner, I seem to be puttering along with my build items and reflecting back to lessons learned from my last two being a 3rd and 5th generations.
I'm holding back right now waiting for Bilstein to release their shocks and struts. This should give me options on the height...
Yes thanks for the images,
I do see the hybrid does have a difference in the step down in the transfer case plate.
Looks like in the photo the hybrid version has two significant step down areas, and the non hybrid has a very shallow step down with just one significant.
My orp comes with a...
Just my two cents and it can just be a temporary carry. A simple roof basket can hold a tire and recovery equipment.
And where my thoughts go is the roof basket can also be a temporary, so you don't have to have a full-time heavy roof rack 24/7.
Hey that's a nice build coming along pretty well. I was wondering why you put on a wheel spacer? Was it just to push the wheel out a little bit because of your Westcott lift? Thanks in advance
I could absolutely give two craps, I wasn't even the one who started this post. I just commented a few times in a positive way so I don't know where it's going any longer I am staying out of it.🤠
