  1. Has anyone wired a Ham radio yet?

I'm considering this myself. You should use 14 gauge wire at a minimum. I'm more interested in figuring out where to put the thing. On my Gen 1 4Runner, it lived under the passenger seat and I ran wire directly to the battery. There was an existing cable boot I could make use of. In my...
  2. Real World MPG by Owners (gas non-hybrid 4Runner) - Post Yours ⛽️

I'm getting into the habit of resetting the average fuel economy whenever I fill up. My latest is 20.8 which is operating under the following conditions: city driving, Normal drive mode, A/C on, elevation above 5000 feet. I'm now going to try a tank's worth of Eco drive mode.
  3. Weird hatch back behavior

Has anyone tried to open the hatch back with the back window rolled down? I forgot that the window was down today when I tried to open the hatch. The hatch unlocked and started to open but stopped. Pressing buttons had no effect. I could manually open the hatch which didn't feel like a good...
  4. Seat Memory Settings Won’t Save - How to Fix (Steps)

I'm a bit mystified by the calibration procedure. It uses forward/back and recline, both of which make perfect sense. But then it uses "up/down". Which one? The up/down control does two things. The YouTube video mentioned above uses the front part of the seat but not the whole seat. And...
  5. Glass cleaner?

So, I tried Invisible Glass. It helps but clearly, no pun intended, there's something else going on as you can see in these photos. When I sprayed the Invisible Glass on there, it beaded up as though there was something like Rain X on there. Wish I knew what the detailers at the dealership used.
  6. Seat Memory Settings Won’t Save - How to Fix (Steps)

Okay, so, I needed to do the calibration procedure because the seat would beep as I was moving it. That's fine BUT, the memory button still doesn't do squat. What's worse is that if the seat got moved for some reason e.g. I leaned on one of the controls as I was trying to reach for something...
  7. Carista vs OBDeleven, et al?

I see a lot of references to Carista on the forum. Has anyone tried OBDeleven or something more elaborate (spendy) such as YOUCANIC?
  8. Toyota app needs a lot of work

You can lock/unlock the doors from the app but you can't open/close the windows.
  9. Toyota app needs a lot of work

I think the app is listening. I just used it to lock my doors and it asked me if I liked the app or not. Squeaky wheels, you know, so I clicked "no" and it asked me what aspects I didn't like. I clicked on notifications and remote start. Maybe if enough of us do that they'll improve it.
  10. Toyota app needs a lot of work

After owning this baby for two weeks now, I can honestly say that the Toyota app is annoying. I regularly get "2025 4Runner Hybrid has multiple vehicle alerts, please check app for more details." It's usually complaining that windows have been left open and doors are unlocked even though I'm...
  11. DIY Cargo Drawer System and Leveling Platform for Cargo Area

This has me thinking that a rigid surface that would flip down instead of the cargo net would be a good idea.
  12. DIY Cargo Drawer System and Leveling Platform for Cargo Area

The only thing about my setup that isn't quite stellar is the fact that on my Gen 1 4Runner I had a tailgate to rest the containers on.
  13. What is this? Obd2 pass through?

    How did you remove it?
  14. DIY Cargo Drawer System and Leveling Platform for Cargo Area

Here's my low-tech solution. I used 80/20 and Home Depot Husky containers. Not quite as elegant as an actual drawer but I can pull them out to access the air pump and I don't lose any space for mechanisms.
  15. Hood Flutter / Shaking Issues?

I noticed this on my Trailhunter the day I got it. It's more obvious when you're on the highway rather than in town.
  16. What was your experience with warranties and other options at time of sale?

Hard sell. The guy who pitched the extended warranty was also the financing guy. Their sales pitch was clearly designed for people who have no clue about engineering. He kept saying "This vehicle has ### computers in it. Any one of them could fail." Yes, that number was WAY over a hundred...
  17. Dogs / Pets ride-along photos thread! 🐾

BTW, I installed this platform in the back: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BDYXFXGT?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
  18. Glass cleaner?

Yikes! That sounds like a lot of work after only had the vehicle for a week. Makes you wonder if anything was done to the glass at the factory.
  19. Glass cleaner?

Heh, the description actually says "pet slobber". Love it!
