The TH Old man EMU shocks are quite balanced in comfort and impact. You can definitely feel the road and imperfections but it does not rattle your teeth out. They ride really smooth otherwise : it is a SOLID truck foundation. The extra weight of hybrid battery and wider stance make it feel...
Sitting around 20.5 overall. TH. Almost 9K miles.
Lately the city hustle in the inferno heat is taking a toll on mpg. Highway short trips are still good : 22-24.
My understanding after doing research and searching together w/ dealer parts desk (this was a few months back)
The TH engine air intake filter is reusable. Like a K & N filter type. Toyota sells the kit or use others.
Hard to find even the Taco TH filter.
I'm gonna check mine soon at 10K
Well done!
I've had mine on a few road trips already with light off-roading, fully packed and it does amazing!
Solid rig to throw anything at it. Can't wait for winter !~
Toyota totally left this one Truck like : no fancy insulation there. That D4s direct injection is awesome! Loads of low end torque. This 2.4 is almost a Diesel built engine inside out.
Thanks for the directions. It took me a while to figure that one out.
I had to set it lower so it would not hit the garage door. I wish it had a way to have a memory when needed and also open all the way when not....
Yes these 4Runners suck in some serious air/dust from the rear WDW. I don't think my 3rgen was that bad...
Thanks for the write up! Just got to keep up with those filters.

The 10k oil change dead horse beating.
Ideal conditions do not exist for 99% of people to go 10k.
If you plan on keeping the rig 4Ever then do what makes you sleep better at night, but most professionals in the industry (not gonna quote) will stay clear of the 10k intervals....

Thanks for the info. I always thought those extended service and protection packages were dealer sells not a car manufacturer.
The Dealer totally skipped that step in my case.
Good point there. If you plan on keeping the vehicle for long time and want to pay up front and o sweat later, all good then! But if you sell it sooner you might loose that money.
Interesting how they labeled it "TOYOTA CARE" options. That's a dealer contract, since Toyota care is across the board on every dealer: 2 oil changes and rotation + 2 rotation. All in 5k intervals.
That's how it was explained to me.
Basically your paying for service up front.
1 UP ALL THE WAY.
Have it for almost a decade and it's been on the trucks since. I just recently took a wrench to tighten things up and a bit of wd 40 and it's splendid again!
That makes sense. Hybrids have a electric compressor and it's super quiet so I assume no clutch involved.
On my truck I do notice a slight rpm fluctuation under 1000k and I think it's due to the ECU switching from port to direct injection. You can hear it too when outside the vehicle. D4S...
