In the middle of this project…the instructions barely mention the compromises and adaptations required for hybrid install, which result in the overall structural rigidity suffering. Specifically, the rear carriage bolts and plates cannot be installed from the inside of frame on passenger side as the instructions say. Just isn’t possible on hybrid, so immediately it’s a rigidity issue. They interchange TRD Pro and TRD Off Road at least once. They also don’t mention all the frame plugs that have to be removed - it’s ALL of them, BTW. The bolts are all thrown into a bag of hardware, not separated out. Even IKEA can separate hardware sizes so we don’t have to waste time sorting then out, then double and triple checking before we use the hardware. And no install video from RCI. Very low effort instructions and the experience sucks.

Overall, I wish I’d gone a different direction. I won’t be buying RCI again, ever.

They are now for sale, Colorado Springs, $900 pick up only.

I've got some of these on order for my non-hybrid ORP (20 degrees with no top tread) -- recommended by a local shop that said they've installed these on some other 4Runners. I already noticed I would have to use rivnuts on the non-threaded frame holes where it looks like they will mount. But I'm waiting to see what hardware they come with. Did you try reaching out to RCI for help or a refund? From looking at the pics and the frame, it looks like the install should be straightforward bolt-on after installing some rivnuts (or similar hardware), but if I get stuck, I'll bring them back to the shop to get professionally installed since they said they've done a few of these already.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll be doing Westcott Designs after here this.

I tripped across this YouTube video of some RCI sliders getting installed here...

The hardware is different than I "imagined" (no rivnuts anyway).

It’s probably fine if you’re not hybrid, and enjoy sorting the hardware. I’d prefer rivnuts where possible, but that’s not part of the install for these. Once I sell them I’ll get Westcott’s which have a much better install procedure and experience overall. I cheaped out and should have known better.

You might want to improve your sales pitch if you want to get rid of them faster, you’re really not selling the company/product 😆

Jk, just had a laugh at the “someone please buy these things that suck from a manufacturer that sucks” vibe

Haha! They’re probably great for non hybrid, but I want to be honest about the experience. If you’re non hybrid and everything fits where RCI says, the install instructions still blow and there’s still no install video from RCI. I don’t have time to decipher RCI's intent behind an install step or spot errors RCI should have spotted. If you don’t mind those things, buy them from me and you get a deal but I won’t mislead about my experience with them.

But yeah I’m annoyed so please get these out of my garage, along with the ORP wheels and running board. Please. PLEASE :)
