I got tired of the annoying iOS notification from the Toyota app every time I start the engine. As most know, disabling notifications won’t get rid of the pop up.

Have you tried the Lexus app? It solves this issue.

I deleted the Toyota app and switched to the Lexus app. Once signed in to my Toyota account everything works the same for the 4runner, but no annoying pop up at ignition start. Confirmed on iOS 18 and 26.

Same app. Different logo. Lazy Toyota developers not fixing the issue in both apps? Maybe.

Hmmm. WiFi should auto disconnect when you connect to CarPlay.

I can't speak to the wifi errors you're receiving because they're unrelated. Yeah, if you swap the Toyota app for the Lexus app you'll no longer get that annoying connect alert from Toyota every time you start the vehicle. Everything else is exactly the same from what I can tell. You can remotely connect to the truck via the Lexus app. Same app, just reskinned for Lexus and clearly it's missing the connect alert bug.

I will try the Lexus app. I don't get an alert every timeI start the vehicle. I do get alerts that I left the doors unlocked, something in the back, etc. You should be able to designate a GPS location (home for example) that it will not alert you on stuff.

As for Wi-Fi and CarPlay (completely off topic and needs its own thread.) I will confirm, CarPlay uses Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, Both, period. I have the In-car hotspot that Toyota offer through AT&T. With that connected to the phone you cannot use wireless CarPlay. I have to use wired.

FYI - ATT in car hotspot works out about $16.67 a month paid yearly. It's 4G and not fast. Coverage is spotty but it works for my situation.

Interesting. If you don't get the annoying alert with the Toyota app than I'm confused why it was such an issue on my end for the last 6 months. I tried disabling everything and I've seen others complain about the same pop up.

For the alerts you mention, that's an easy fix. There is a settings page in the app to turn off all those notifications

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but my 4Runner is the 1st Toyota I've owned. How do you change to the Lexus app? I bought Carista and didn't see it as an option. The dealer explained absolutely nothing to me so I'm figuring it all out on my own. There's so much amazing tech in this thing, I feel like I'm missing out on using some amazing features. Thanks!!

It's just the app on your phone. Assuming you already have the Toyota app installed on iOS with a Toyota account when you set up your 6th gen.... all you do is download the Lexus app from the app store and log in with the same credentials. Everything works like normal. All your settings are linked to your log in credentials so there's no additional set up. Once I confirmed it was working, I just deleted the Toyota app from my phone.

Having the app is really only useful while you're using the free Toyota connect services included with the purchase of your vehicle. You can remote start, unlock/lock the doors. See tire pressure (based on your last drive), etc. Nice features, but once the free 3 year promo trial ends I doubt I'd renew and pay Toyota for this service. I never actually use it, but nice to have.

I checked the Toyota app for the settings page. I could not find it. Are you saying, that is in the Lexus app?

i would love to get to that page to control the notification.

It’s in the Toyota app. Both apps are 100% exactly the same, just different branding and in my case, Lexus app fixed the annoying bug from the Toyota app.

Here’s how you find these settings in the Toyota or Lexus app: tap the profile icon in the upper right, then tap Account and choose Notification settings.
