Toyo Open Country R/T, R/T Trail, R/T Pro - What PSI are you running at?

A few more weeks before my lift, wheels and tires. I've decide on Toyo Open Country R/T since they seem to be the best overall tire. I'm running a TRD ORP Hybrid, which is pretty heavy. What PSI are you all running at? Please post model, any extra weight you might have, tire size, daily driving vs. off-raod and PSI. Thanks!

Trailhunter w/ ADD Stealth Bumper + Warn EVO 12S Winch = +150 lbs front, Full Rack+ Ladder + Recovery Gear + spare = 200 lbs rear. Toyo R/T Pro 35/11.5/17, 33 Psi (cold) street, 12-20 Psi off road terrain dependent.

Sr5 w/ ~530lbs in added weight before loading. RT Trail 295/75R17 - 40 Psi street and ~18 Psi on trail

ok, didn't realize tiresize.com has a PSI calc. Here's what it says for me.


OEM Size (P265/70R18 SL) Load Capacity: 2542 lbs. @ 33 psi.
Passenger type tires are fitted with a 10% overage in load capability when used on SUV's, Light Trucks, and Vans because of the difference in load handling. This load overage can be removed when changing to an LT type tire.

That brings the effective load capacity to achieve down to 2311 lbs.

New Size (LT285/75R17 E) Load Capacity: 2344 lbs. @ 38 psi.
**Assessing tire contact patch for proper treadwear is always recommended.


Obviously, there is a lot to consider, but this gives me a baseline.

right, think for me ideally should be running 38 Psi in the front and 40 in the rear. My brain can't comprehend running two different Psi's so here we are at 40 all around haha.

Also, I bought mine absolutely bone stock so sliders, full skid set, and a rack are added weight for me while they may not be for others, such as a trailhunter or TRDpro.

And I’ll just add that “assessing the contact patch” is absolutely the right call. Do a chalk test, super easy and it’ll tell you exactly how your tire is riding on the ground. You can do one for your everyday configuration and one for your fully loaded headed to the hills configuration - it validates your Psi. Also, if you’re looking at a 285/75/17 - that’s a perfect setup for the 6g. I ran AT3s in that size but when I switched to the R/T Pro I couldn’t find any which is how I ended up on the 35/11.5/17.
