Hey everyone, looking for some expert advice! I have a '26 TRD Sport Premium and I'm currently running Falken Rubitreks on the stock 20s. I’m pretty happy with them, but I want to drop down to a 17" wheel for light off-roading. I'm slightly worried about the stance and potential rubbing.

Current Setup (Zero rubbing):

  • Stock TRD Sport wheels: 20x8 (+55mm offset)
  • Tires: Falken Rubitrek 275/60R20
Proposed Setup:

  • Wheels: Method 17x8.5 (0 offset)
  • Tires: Falken Wildpeak A/T4W 275/70R17
Will pushing out to a zero offset with this 17" setup cause any rubbing that requires trimming or modification? Thank you in advance!

I as well would love to see if anyone has safely ran 17” rims. My research says break rotor size may cause issues.

There are lots of people who have posted them using 17" rims. Also the SR5 come with 17 rims from factory.

17s are fine. Zero offset in 275 will probably give you some trouble. You’re probably safe at 265 though.
I can confirm 275 on 17 AT tires on factory rims has no rubbing at all. Rides like a dream!! :)

Zero offset?
Zero offset, full 100% factory rims and i have no rubbing. I do have a 2.5 spacer kit though, that for sure could be helping.

Still think +18 to +25 is still the perfect offset. Gives it a more aggressive look without overdoing it and allows easier fitment of larger tires. Too much poke at zero offset and your panels are going to get pretty banged up. Just my thought on the matter.

Thank you for all your replies. I realized my 17x8.5 with zero offset and 275/70R18 would most likely give me trouble without mods.

Now I'm looking at two 18x9 wheels, +18mm and +42 offsets. Can anyone tell me if these setups will give me issues without any lift/mods?

Current setup - factory 20" TRD Sport wheels(+55mm offset) with 275/60R20 - no rubbing whatsoever.

18mm offset

The factory wheels are +25 for Pro wheels, +45 for the TRD wheels and +55 OR if I remember correctly. So 45-55 would likely be best option

Ended up ordering 18x9 wheels with +42 offset and 275/70r18 Nitto Terra Grappler G3s. Keeping my fingers crossed.
