Has anyone in Canada been notified of a Platinum or Limited in production yet?
Sponsored
got my SR5 on Wednesday in Vancouver. I was on the wait list with one dealership and was getting vague answers, so I messaged other dealerships and swooped in on a cancelled order for the SR5 that was about to show up. Will be seeing more on the streets soon I hope!Hey Canadians, have any of you been able to order a 4Runner yet? The dealers seam still silent for me anyways. Thank you.
Put my deposit down at the end of November and was told likely a year on a platinum or longerAny word on Platinum trim’s delivery?
Yikes.. still a long wait.Put my deposit down at the end of November and was told likely a year on a platinum or longer
I order sr5 7 seater last march and no updates up to now, im here in VancouverHey Canadians, have any of you been able to order a 4Runner yet? The dealers seam still silent for me anyways. Thank you.
It seems that this is just the way that some Toyota dealerships have gone. I'm not aware of it happening at a large scale across other brands' dealerships, so I'm not sure what's going on. Many Toyota dealers in my area basically barely use or don't use their websites at all to showcase inventory. If you don't go in and ask, you'd be forgiven for thinking they went out of business entirely.Hi all — curious if anyone else feels the same about some of the Canadian specs and sales experience we’re seeing:
1. Paint color limitations:
It’s honestly frustrating that Toyota is limiting or even removing certain colors — especially silver — from some trims. Not everyone wants just black or white, no matter how classic they look. It feels like customers are being forced into a narrow selection. I can only imagine how these colors will look after a few harsh Canadian winters or multiple salty car washes!
2. Dealer experience & wait times:
The wait times are getting out of hand, and some dealers seem completely uninterested in actually selling vehicles. The attitude is disappointing, especially given the price jump between the old and new generations.
3. No demo units for the 4Runner or LC250:
No test drives, no demos — just pay a deposit, wait indefinitely, and then be told to take it or leave it when the vehicle finally arrives (with little chance of a refund). Committing to $70K–$90K CAD without even sitting in the vehicle? That’s a big ask.
Is it just me, or is this becoming the new norm in the Canadian market?
Hey Thanks for the reply and I agree a Toyota Canada Problem and I also don't know how the salespeople go to work everyday with that type of inventory - BTW its not just the trucks they basically don't even have the highlanders or many other vehicle models!Which model are you looking at Chris?
it is definitely a Toyota Canada problem. No inventory anywhere for a lot of their vehicle models. We bought a 2025 Odyssey simply because the wait time on a Sienna is...'unknown'. Not sure how that builds a brand, but units are all pre-sold, so dealers might be happy with that financial picture of not carrying inventory. i dunno, this new way with Toyota Canada is a little bizarre to me. However, the American market is substantially larger, so it's natural that many more units would initially be shipped to the US on a new vehicle launch. i don't even consider the 6th Gen 4R launched in Canada yet until dealers get more than a couple units. That is likely not happening until the end of June 2025.
I am tired of waiting too, but i actually feel bad for the salespeople at Toyota dealers. No info, no inventory and hapless approach going to work each day. i don't know how they do it; it would drive me nuts to show up to work to take orders that potentially fall flat 4-6 months from now (or longer).
i have deposits at 3 dealers, and i am not sure i will have a crack at what i want until at least September/October 2025. At that point,if there is no vehicle on the horizon and if i am still keen on waiting, i am targeting a 2026 model. My deposits are all refundable, so the first dealer to get my allocation is my new best friend and the others just lose one person from their wait list. The process is a bit laughable, but as a consumer i am stuck if i want a new 4R. I don't want any comparable vehicle, so it's on me to suck it up, or move on.
Some TRD Sports have arrived in Southern Ontario in April, so you can snag a quasi-test drive, to get a feel for the interior, but maybe not the model you want. The ride, as this forum has shown, can vary from model to model. Colours all seem to be Heritage Blue or Cutting Edge silver, and some are keeping as test drive units. Just google 'ontario 2025 4Runner', and the images will show which dealers have them on a lot.
For colours - i guess it depends on the model you want. I want a 7-seater limited, and have restricted my colour choice to red/blue/underground. Model is most important to me, and if it was only available in black or white, i would wait a year. if you want to buy by colour, it may determine what model you get. i see other manufacturer limiting their base models to base colours, so that might be a current trend that consumers are stuck with.
My understanding with my dealer is that the deposit is refundable until they find a vehicle, I accept it, and we sign the forms for it.Hey Thanks for the reply and I agree a Toyota Canada Problem and I also don't know how the salespeople go to work everyday with that type of inventory - BTW its not just the trucks they basically don't even have the highlanders or many other vehicle models!
left my contact details with 5 or 6 dealers for more than a year now not a single call ... Oh and on the deposit some dealers are asking for 1000 others for 500 and many reports of people saying that they couldn't get back their deposits because the dealership did "work on the vehicle" upon arrival! .. not sure what's the story with that and if the deposit is actually refundable... I'm most likely going to wait for 2026 as the trims and vehicles I'm interested in do not have the silver colour option i'm interested in..
