If Toyota commit to opening factories here in the USA to build cars that are now built in Japan, I suspect Tariffs would be put on hold or reduced until they open the factories. The goal is to increase domestic production in the USA. Traditional US brands including Ford and GM use Mexico and Canada. I see nothing wrong with the goal is increasing Made in USA products. We'll see pain before gain.
I can see a LOT wrong with this. Start with precedence of the 1930's tariffs like the Smoot-Hawley Tariff. And the great depression. It is always the middle class that gets hammered and hurt by these tactics. When we need logical and well thought out plans to help our industries, not the "chainsaw" and wrecking ball. This is our lives not the show The Apprentice. The middle calss is reaching its breaking point.

I assume that your dealer paid for the 4Runner as soon as it left Japan? I don’t know the payment logistics. IF it was already paid for I think it would be exempt from any tariffs. I really really expect this to be rescinded when he, they come to the realization of how many US businesses will be affected in a negative way.
I originally was waiting for a hybrid 4 Runner which are being released very slowly so with the tariff looming I went in for an oil change on my 2010 4 Runner and ended up buying a 2025 Land Cruiser. Expensive oil change!

And if you want the breakdown of individual industries just click and save the PDF. You will note that this is from info is from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, US Dept of Commerce, not just an opinion.

Where is the above chart from?

I have a wind chill sports premium with deposit to arrive end of April, however with the dealership giving me the constant run arounds if my price will be locked in. I received a call today from another deposit on an ice cap SR5 with 4x4 arriving on the lot today and able to pick up today. I wanted the sports premium over the SR5. However, with the tariff scare, uncertainty, and the run around on the sports premium price; I am really considering heading to the dealer now. I have about 4 hours to decide = (

Every economic
OK then, tariffs are not so bad............ I'll tell that to the farmers that lost their family farms back in his first term and the ones that are going to lose them now. Or should we just move Toyotas new billion dollar plant to North Carolina so we don't pay a tariff for our new 4Runners?
Please enlighten me as to where you chart came from and your thinking on this.

I'll read your reply later tonight.

Cheers

Off road capable with A/T tires. It's 1.1 inch closer to the ground. Skid plates recommended and sway bar disconnect is availble, but you have to search for them. I liked the LC ride as smoother, very responsive and nice luxury. You could compare it to a Platinum I guess in that sense but many Overlanders swear by their Land Cruisers.

Absolutely. Later this year I'll look to try to find some 18" TRD Pro wheels and 33" tires. Check out landcruiserforum.com to see some builds.

wow thank you for linking this! This is actually great news, and I hope dealers don’t markup to adjust for the market. I have an order coming in soon, currently scheduled to enter port in a few days. i’m hoping i don’t lose a deposit over tariffs and can actually take delivery.

I don't think anyone was expecting Toyota to raise the price of their vehicles. The issue is the amount that US dealers pay (finance) Toyota after arrival in the US and including tariffs. At best, the article implies that Toyota will subsidize the tariff on behalf of its US dealers (not clear if that includes SET and GST since they are different than the dealer networks in the rest of the US regions), but they almost certainly cannot do that forever. Nobody yet knows how the amount of tariff per vehicle will be calculated. Possibly more info will be provided tomorrow.
