****EDIT/UPDATE****
All is well. Did some more testing yesterday on a separate trailer, and I think that the problem ultimately came down to a loose connection on the pigtail to the vehicle. Sat down on the ground and really made sure to push it all the way home, and the brake controller detected right away. Went home and did the same thing on my popup, and still good to go.
When testing the settings on the controller, FWIW, I could NOT get my brakes on the pop up to lock up. They were engaging and slowing, but even at 10.0 still no lockup. I backed the controller down to 7 and will ride that for a while and see how she goes. Just had the brakes replaced on the camper last year, so expect theyre still in good shape and its just the vehicle pulling such a lightweight load keeping it from locking. But just a heads up to anyone testing, that may be something you encounter.

Howdy yall! Just got a new Trailhunter last week, and overall have really been enjoying it, despite finding a few quirks to work out.
Just discovered a new issue last night, wherein the trailer braking is not detecting a trailer, despite it showing the trailer active on the dash. Im wondering if anyone has faced a similar problem yet, and if youve been able to troubleshoot? For starters, here is what my experience has been like:
Plug 7pin from popup into vehicle, and Ive set up the trailer on the system (pop-up preset, auto detect length, 0-4999 electric brakes). The system has auto detected the trailer length, and shows the status as "active" and "trailer detected" on the gauge cluster (pic attached).
I have also manually set the gain on the brake controller to 5 per the owners manual, however when I attempt to use the manual slider to find the sweet spot, I get the message "trailer disconnected" and the manual slider doesnt seem to work (pic attached).
Some things that I have confirmed thus far are that the trailer brakes work on my 07 4Runner with a Tekonsha P3 controller (using manual and auto gain settings), trailer lights appear to be working correctly when plugged into 7pin on Trailhunter and connection is good. I have also cleaned the pigtail from the camper with electric parts cleaner and have applied conductive grease to the pig tail as well. Ive also checked the fuses on the Trailhunter for anything marked "towing" that I could safely pull, and all are good.
Things that I havent tested yet are
1) conductivity from the 7pin on the 4Runner for each pin. I believe that pin 2 is the brake pin, so want to be sure its getting power.
2) Trying to see if the wiring under the vehicle that runs up above the spare tire somehow is plugged into a 4 pin harness instead of a 7 pin? This was a problem on my 07 where there were two locations for the pigtail to clip into under the vehicle, one for the 4 and one for the 7. The wiring at the actual 7 pin receiver is shrouded and taped up pretty extensively, and looks tied into the 4 pin so I am hesitant to start cutting tape to check that. Would also be surprised if somehow this wasnt connected at the factory, but you never know I guess.
If anyone else has dealt with something similar, or has any ideas of what else to check, I'd love to hear them. Just towing a small popup camper so it's not the end of the world, especially with engine breaking and having the hybrid drivetrain it shouldnt be too much additional wear on the brakes. But I want to get this handled or at least have a good list of things Ive already done when I take it to the dealer to ask them to check.
Im also not sure if on newer 7pin connecters the configurations have changed, and maybe I need a new pigtail on my camper? Not really trying to spend money on an aftermarket controller since this one should be working right off the factory floor though.
Thanks in advance for any replies or assistance!
