How to turn off "Trailer Detected Trailer Driving Assist Active" message with no trailer connected?

Does anyone know how to turn this off? It started popping up when I hooked up my bike rack. When that happen I took off my bike rack but still won’t go away.

This is a known software issue on the 2024+ Tacoma. There's a TSB issued for it:

T-SB-0084-24 - Trailer Driving Assist Active Message Displayed Without a Trailer Connected

Take that to your dealer and get your software updated. Should fix the issue.

Thanks for sharing the TSB. I plan on running a bike rack (1up) 24/7 on the 6th gen.

If it's going to automatically trigger a limited trailer mode, I might cancel my dealer hold.

OP - please let us know how your dealer remedies the solution based on the Tacoma TSB. What kind of rack did you have installed?

Ditto here.... If its not "fixable" that could be a deal breaker.

After looking at the TSB, it seems that its directed at random incorrect trailer detection not when I bike Rack is fitted. I hope, at least it is a known and rectifiable issue as I hope to have the bike racks on and off frequently.

I'm really interested to know if there is a better work around for this when using bike racks. I find it crazy that Toyota wouldn't have a bike rack mode or something simple.

From what I see in the manual on page 318, this is caused by Auto trailer detection. It appears this feature cannot be disabled.

I don't want to get locked out of using the rear view camera -or- see continuous warnings on my dash because it thinks a trailer is attached.

Can any 6th gen owners confirm this?

I had my bike rack hooked up with the bike on it, and the truck wouldnt let me go in reverse. I think i disabled it but it keeps reminding me that its disabled after start up.

I'm having the same problem I pulled a small trailer and it's still showing up. Will call for a service update.

I’ve never seen this message without the option to clear it.

Try cleaning your rear sensors and/or turning auto detect on and off in the settings. It’s a temporary disable and will be turned on again after the next start.

How did you turn it off? I was t able to back up without the brake being automatically applied so I hit the option for a trailer being attached. Now its stuck. I no longer get back up detection sounds.
