Hello fellow "Toy" lovers. This is my first visit and post to 4runner6g. I just took delivery of my fourth 4Runner. I’ve had a second, third, fifth gen and now a 6th gen. My 2026 limited iForce Max Hybrid did not come with the Tow Tech package therefore I need to add a brake controller. I have used the Tekonsha brand before and it was such an easy install with the included vehicle specific wiring harness.
In my fifth gen, I was able to mount the bracket to the bottom of the dash, directly below the steering wheel, between my legs. It was out of the way while climbing in, easy to see and within easy reach to adjust if needed. I confidently went to that same location in my 6th gen and of course the dash configuration is different and the big SRS caught my eye.
Does anyone know how much space is between the plastic formed dash and the airbag behind? It's a great location for me but I do NOT want to disturb the airbag! Any thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. We have a multi family camping trip planned so I need to get this squared away. Thanks everyone!
