Sunroof leaking when open after a rain

I went camping over the weekend and it was a rainy affair, but the next day was beautiful so on the way home we opened the sunroof. A tidal wave of water cascaded into the front seats. I have had other cars with sunroofs and they seemed to mange that situation quite nicely. We ended up getting 2 waves of water in the car. Easy solution is to just drive a bit before you open it, but has anyone else experienced this and if you fixed it, what was your work around?

So the 4Runner comes with a free shower! Interesting. I would have thought there would not be anywhere for much water to collect. Hope others can give us some good info on tnat.

Have not opened the roof after heavy rain but backing up releases a flood onto the windshield. Apparently the flat area of the moonroof is a collection spot. I think it clears fairly quickly with any forward or reverse motion and a quick stop. Might be the only practical workaround: don't open the roof until after moving and stopping a couple of times.

use weed whacker line and fish the drains to be sure,
but otherwise
standing water on roof or on glass will need some speed or cornering
assist to banish it to the land of wind and ghosts

Ensure your sunroof drain tubes are clean so that any heavy water channeling functions properly if it bypasses the main seal.
