There's alternatives that fit in the secret dash cubby compartment space. Here's the "FRED Flashing Roadside Emergency Flare" circular LED light puck from Home Depot for just $9.95.

Fits perfectly in the dash compartment behind the OEM cover. Just use some velcro on the backside to keep it from rattling and in place.

Hells Yes! I'm ordering one of these STAT! Much better than the $150 Toyota wants for it.
THANK YOU! Attach an adhesive magnet and it'll attach to other places when in use.

i asked the dealer to throw it in with the purchase of the vehicle and they did. it's an ok product. doesn't put out a huge amount of lumens. have used it to light up the cab cause the interior lights are not bright at all. maybe it's just my old eyes. go with the aftermarket let. yeah it has hooks to hang it from stuff but pretty flimsy

What do the contacts look for recharging? Can you post pictures of both sets of contacts?
Mine doesn’t have electrical contacts, so I’m guessing it doesn’t charge the lantern. It’s just a convenient place to store it. The review videos I watched say it runs on three AA batteries, which would be consistent with a non-charging accessory.

Just got mine…Sadly, it was missing the housing unit so you can attached it to the side. Called the dealership and they had no idea what i was talking about. Was told it was an installation issue. I was so frustrated trying to explain I just wanted to return it. They want to charge me 20% restocking fee. Sigh!
Think with this transaction, i am done with Toyota. Great company but just one issue after another. Maybe I'm just unlucky. Sorry for ranting. Bye!

I spent 2 hours at the dealership and searched every trailhunter tacoma, all trims of 4 runners and none of them had the housing unit. Finally after speaking to the warehouse and looking at the "Install instructions" - LOL we realized that there are actually 2 parts that you need. First the LED Lamp which most people get and the 2nd part is called an organizer. I bet most people don't know this like myself and probably end up returning the light or getting frustrated. So when you buy the LED Lantern, make sure you get one with the organizer. Apparently the correct part # is PT944-35253 and it's a KIT, not a stand alone light. I ended up ordering the Organizer separately for $18. Hopefully this saves others some time. See picture for reference.
