How-to remove plastic shroud cover around rear view mirror - DIY (for auto dimming mirror w/ compass & homelink install)

Just wanted to post a couple pics of the procedure to remove the plastic shroud cover surrounding the rear view mirror. Maybe it will help someone.

I have an SR5 with a basic non auto dimming mirror so I upgraded to an edgeless auto dimming mirror with compass and homelink.

Put your finger between the headliner and the insert above the mirror post and pull outwards (towards you). The top clips will release and then lift to remove it.

Now push downward towards the dash from the top of the plastic shroud.

The mirror is held in place with a T-20 torx.

Powering the auto dimming mirror:

I didn’t see a plug in mine so I ran wires down the pillar. I’ve seen other posts that showed existing plugs, but mine did not have one. My mirror is a Gentex 50-genk85a. It’s the OEM brand. Here is an Amazon link: https://a.co/d/1tvCUbG

I want to scan and 3D print this piece with an arm for a webcam attachment so I can hide it and make it look factory. Appreciate you doing this.
