I am seeing that most people are using amber color for their raptor grill lights. I am looking at the white light and liking that look but also wondering if there is a functional reason for amber? Or is it just aesthetic appeal?

How much additional lighting do they functionally provide and in which scenarios are they most useful?

I am definitely first and foremost a functional/utilitarian but aesthetics matter too.

From what I understand, Raptor lights were on the Ford Raptor cause of the width. I think there’s some regulation that vehicles over a certain width need those lights. But they look cool, so most folks add them for aesthetics. If you need functional lights, I suggest a light bar or some sort of pod lights that go behind the grille.

They were used on the Raptors by Ford to identify and satisfy the width regulations for safety. Not to produce more visual light for the driver. They since became popular for truck enthusiast to add on other vehicles in the amber color.

Ford uses amber LED grille lights (officially identification lamps) on its Raptor models because federal regulations require them for vehicles over 80 inches wide, serving as a safety cue for other drivers to indicate the truck's significant width and size, a feature also popular for aesthetic appeal.
