We’ve always found that using a manual prop rod every time we open the hood is a total hassle, especially when our hands are full.

That’s why we developed these hood struts.

Just unlock and lift slightly, and the hood rises smoothly and effortlessly. They use the factory holes for easy, no-drill installation.

We built them from high-quality carbon steel with a powder-coated finish for rust resistance—they’re solid, durable, and won’t wear out or break easily.

Compatible with:
  • 2024–2026 Toyota Tacoma
  • 2025–2026 Toyota 4Runner

The hood struts work fine, but the instructions are absolutely abysmal, especially if you have a Trailhunter (and maybe any hybrid). On my Trailhunter, the “unused factory mounting holes” are absolutely being used on both sides of the vehicle (hybrid system cooling reservoir on passenger side and a bracket on the drivers side). This in itself wouldn’t be a show stopper, but since the strut brackets are different on each side, and aren’t marked, I spent an hour trying to figure out which one went where because there are vacant holes NEAR where the strut brackets need to go (but are the wrong locations even though you CAN mount them there incorrectly). You’ll need to take one bolt out of the existing brackets and bolt the strut brackets on top of the Toyota brackets once you figure out which one goes on which side. I know that they are probably using one set of instructions for every Tacoma and 4Runner, but my Trailhunter (and probably every hybrid) bears absolutely no resemblance to the terrible instructions. In addition, it would be incredibly helpful to mark the hood brackets as well as the engine bay brackets with a Drivers Side and Passenger Side reference, because they will go either way (but only one is correct).

Thank you for the detailed feedback. This is exactly the kind of real-world input that helps us improve. We’ll review the Trailhunter/hybrid installation details and update our instructions with clearer left/right markings and additional guidance.

We’re also looking for experienced 4Runner owners who are willing to share honest feedback on our upcoming products. If you’re interested, we’d love to have you as one of our product testers.

If possible, could you share some photos of your hood mounting points? It would help our team better understand the differences and improve the installation guide.

Here are photos of the passenger side bracket (with the hybrid cooling reservoir) and the drivers side bracket (with the ABS module)
