Hello from Orange County, CA!

Just picked up a new 2025 TRD Off-road Premium!

I used to be in the car scene in my 20s (Mitsubishi GS-T, Mitsubishi GSX, Honda S2000 AP1 GPW, Evo 9 GSR Tarmac Black) and now almost a full 20 years later, decided to combine my love for hiking and camping with offroading and man, I should have joined this scene so much sooner.

By chance, is there a specific forum for Socal Members where people plan meetups and group offroads? I know I have a lot to learn and I am currently "Youtube Learning" but hoping my lady and I will be able to meet some like minded people as we navigate this very much...unfamiliar territory.

Goals for the next 3 months:

1. Popup tent
2. 270 degree Awning
3. Trunk storage (functional/organized)
4. Waterproof Hub tent? Not sure how else to describe this but I got my inspiration from Fish13 on Youtube. Maybe someone can tell me what kind of tent he uses to cook in that is safe with a heater:




Once I have hit 1 year I will look into upgrading my suspension/lift/new tires/rims.

Anyway, it is a pleasure to meet everyone and look forward to hopefully offroading/camping with the community in the future!

Congrats on the new (and your first) 4Runner! I made the switch from sports cars a few years back too and haven't looked back. I enjoy the many more types of experiences I can have with my 4Runner than with sports cars. Think you'll feel that way too very soon!

Hey Mark! Thanks for the welcome. Yeah, 20 years ago I was all about the JDM scene...dont get me wrong, I miss my 475whp Evo and stock AP1 but......as I got older, I felt life is already fast enough, let me get something to help slow it down so I can actually enjoy life a bit more. haha

Congrats on the new rig. I was driving past the nearby Toyota Dealer and spied 2 4Runners parked out front. Turned around and wound up replacing my Girl Friend's 24 TRD Off Road with a new 25. The staff was like a hair in a biscuit and finalized everything around 9 pm. I'm still waiting on my '25 Pro and hopefully have in several weeks. BTW, new purchase was well received

I loved the JDM scene too and my first sports car was a 1994 300ZX. Glad to see many of reformed sports car owners aging into the 4Runner. Congrats on yours and looking forward to seeing your build come together!
