I'm just starting my journey to delete the chrome on my new Limited. Started with replacing the silver rails with black since I traded from an SR5 to this Limited and just made an easy swap that didn't cost me anything. Looking to go with a Prinsu rack in the future.

Just to share the results from Plastidipping the bumper and lower front valence since I've not seen many posts on how this is turning out for folks not going the part replacement route. I think it looks fine, but I'm curious how durable this will be in the long run. I figured I'd spend $15 to see how they turn out and maybe swap parts later on down the road if it doesn't hold up. Anyone else have experience with how well Plastidip holds up?

For the front valence, I can't decide whether I want to order some gloss black (no local stores had it) and hit it again, or if I like the matte look better. I'll probably end up replacing this part with the OEM black valence in the future. But I think the Plastidip looks fine for the time being.

Now it's on to finding some better wheels/tires and figuring out what to do with the badges. Not sure if I'll leave the grill or swap it or paint it. Would love to see other's builds and ideas.

Here I was thinking my plastic dipping attempt last weekend looked good, this looks great! I’m in the same boat where I think it turned out well enough but might replace it with an OEM black piece later on. At least the front… the rear looks like it could be an absolute pain to do and I’m already used to pulling the front apart.

Against my better judgement, I drove through a car wash today just to get the winter nastiness off and the plastidip held up perfectly. I was halfway in when I remembered I just did it, super happy to see it survive.

I love the heritage grill on all versions of the 6th gen honestly. Rave off-road paint matched their lettering blue and it looks amazing. I also love the bronze lettering with the blue personally.

First thing I did when i got mine was I swapped out the grill and changed the fog lights to Rigid SAE fog lights. At first wasnt 100% sure if I liked the silver valence or not as well as how to do it. I looked at all the options of getting it wrapped which would have been $150 but in the end it wouldnt stick when they were trying to apply it. Thought about getting it painted and they were going to charge $150 to paint and $200 for the labor of removing the bumper. Plastidip was my next option which I’ve done before on my last car and it held up for 6yrs before selling it. But Toyota has a sale for parts and the front valence OEM came out to $160 with shipping. So I decided to just do that. Way easier to swap that out than it was for the grill, about 1.5hrs work compared to 4hrs. If you do plan on doing any of it, save yourself the trouble and do it all at once. Theres plenty of videos showing you how to do it, its just tedious cuz its sandwiched in between other layers and you have to figure out what needs to come out first. I do suggest you follow the cbi video initially just to remove the bumper and then the rave video to do the rest. Only because when it comes to removing the fender flare, cbi was the only one showing you how to remove with saving the clips in mind. Every other video just says to rip it and itll be ok. I didnt have the cbi video the first time and I almost broke a clip which would mean replacing the entire fender flare cuz then it wont sit flush putting it back. Ill be removing the chrome on the trunk handle and replacing it with a bronze toyota lettering and putting overlays on the chrome 4runner as the cheaper option first and see how that comes out this weekend. If not, Ill get actual bronze 4runner badging. Still deciding if I want to replace the rear silver valence as well. Cant find any videos on how to remove them so I might just plastidip it or maybe even leave it alone

That looks fantastic! The bronze and heritage grill look great with the red. That lower valence is a similar finish to the Plastidip, so I'm thinking I'll keep it this way. Thanks for the info on how long it held up for you! I watched those vids, and I don't know that I want all the hassle of removing the whole front end. The bumper was much easier to Plastidip because it's all pretty straight lines--I just got some painter's tape and paper to mask a wide field to prevent overspray and put on about 5 coats. My only concern was that the sensors might stop working after being painted over, but they seem to be just fine so far.

Did you find the bronze overlay badges for the tailgate "4Runner" letters? I've been searching, and I can only find the bronze inlay and logo badging.

Im sorry i meant inlays not overlays. Ill start with the inlays first since theyre $20 to see if it will do. If not ill do the oem overlays which are $100 on sale. Here’s the part number: PT90B-89253-05. It a set that comes with the ā€œ4runnerā€, logo, ā€œlimitedā€, and ā€œiforcemaxā€. I wasnt able to find just the 4runner
