mostly aesthetics, I don't see that little lip stopping very much mud from slinging. Is there still an issue with these stock flares separating from the body of the truck? Could these increase the odds of that happening or not likely to have an impact?

An extra 1" is an extra 1" of protection that's simple!
The do not have any impact on the separation issue at all.
Yes they add a cleaner look too.

It is a personal choice, Im awaiting a set of the new 2" Max once they are in Stock to compare!

I’m sorry, I don’t understand what your referring too.
You said that adding the 1"-inch lip gives you an extra 1" of protection. I used to hear this saying "...'like putting a band aid on a sucking chest wound" which means that whatever benefit you think you are getting by adding a band aid to a big hole in someone's chest, there is still a big hole in the chest (and the band aid really serves no purpose). I was in the Navy and that is when I used to hear it. Not sure if it is a common saying in the civilian world or not. So really, does that 1" inch prevent a significant amount of mudslinging? If not, then it is mostly an aesthetic choice, which is fine. Looks fine to me.
