I went to Toyota Website to download the PDF version of Owner's Manual today. There were two different Owner's Manuals - OM35C07U Version (2026 4Runner through May Production) vs. OM35C28U Version (2026 4Runner from June Production).

Will there be any changes to 2026 4Runner starting from June 2026? If so, what changes is Toyota making?

I've attached both PDFs and asked our AI overlords to find differences. Here is the ChatGPT answer.

"I reviewed both manuals and compared the table of contents, page counts, and several of the revised sections.

Executive Summary
The June-and-later manual (OM35C28U, 715 pages) appears to be a running revision of the earlier pre-June manual (OM35C07U, 711 pages), not a major redesign. The vehicle equipment, systems, and feature list are essentially unchanged.

What Changed
1. Manual grew by 4 pages
  • Pre-June: 711 pages
  • June-onward: 715 pages
Most chapter contents remain identical, but page numbering shifts throughout the book, indicating inserted material rather than removed features.

2. Expanded Toyota Safety Sense / Data Collection Language
One of the most noticeable additions is in the front matter regarding vehicle data collection.

The June manual contains additional wording related to:

  • Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 data collection
  • Image recording
  • Location information
  • Third-party data sharing
  • Opting out of certain data collection
The section appears more detailed and has been reformatted compared with the earlier manual.

3. Maintenance Section Expanded
The maintenance chapter begins later in the June manual and several maintenance page references moved by 2–4 pages:

TopicPre-JuneJune+
Exterior cleaning512514
Interior cleaning515517
Hood526528
Engine compartment528530
Tires537539
Tire pressure551553
Light bulbs561563
This suggests additional maintenance notes or procedures were inserted.

4. Specifications Section Expanded
The specifications chapter also shifted by about 4 pages:

TopicPre-JuneJune+
Maintenance data614618
Fuel information622626
Tire information624628
Customizable features635639
This usually indicates Toyota updated technical information, clarifications, or feature descriptions rather than changing hardware.

What Did NOT Change
The following major features appear unchanged between manuals:

  • Toyota Safety Sense 3.0
  • Trailer Backup Guide
  • Trailer Brake Controller
  • Multi-Terrain Monitor
  • SDM (Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism)
  • Crawl Control
  • Multi-Terrain Select
  • Digital Key
  • Removable Speaker
  • Full-time and Part-time 4WD systems
All remain present in both manuals with identical chapter structure.

Bottom Line
I do not see evidence of any significant mechanical, drivetrain, suspension, towing, or off-road hardware changes between pre-June and June-production 2026 4Runners based on the owner's manuals.

The revisions appear to be:

  1. Additional Toyota Safety Sense/data-privacy language.
  2. Maintenance and specification clarifications.
  3. Minor corrections and page renumbering.
  4. Approximately four pages of added documentation.
If you'd like, I can do a deep text comparison of the towing, payload, suspension (SDM), hybrid system, and Toyota Safety Sense chapters to see whether Toyota quietly changed any actual specifications or operating procedures. That would catch the kind of subtle mid-year changes enthusiasts usually care about."

TLDR : Data privacy changes.

The 4 added pages are almost entirely expanded data privacy/collection disclosures, with the rest of the page count difference being a downstream page-number shift in the Maintenance and Specifications sections. No new features, no removed features — just a policy/legal language update.

Then why call out vehicles built before and after? What specifically applies to the June+ models that doesn't apply to the <June models?

Counties and states/provinces add new privacy laws every year. This update addresses it for vehicles not already sold. The ones already sold will likely be addressed by a letter or email ( no one look at it) advising you of these updated policies. This a very standard practice.
