We just got 4 inches of snow (roads not cleared yet) and I had a 50 mile ride to do and decided to use 4H and put it Normal mode, I normally use 2H and have it in Eco Mode.

When I got to destination I was sure that my consumption would be bad, but actually it was better, I normally average 20-21 MPG in 2H Eco Mode but got over 22 MPG in 4H Normal Mode driving in snow.

Did anyone noticed this behaviour? It’s a ride I do often and the only difference I can see is that I was driving a bit slower.

Hopefully soon 2026 4Runner Off Road
These SUVs have the aerodynamics of a brick, so going slower really helps.
Next time you are in 2wd ECO drive the same speed as you did in the snow and check the mpgs.

Thanks for the suggestion, will definitely try it in 2WD Eco Mode at the same lower speed and see how it goes.
