I found the page in the manual that shows location, which is higher than I thought. I've seen several posts in here about how people accessed it. I am a bit nervous about prying and pulling pieces, so looking for the best way to access it. Hopefully, I don't need to remove everything. I know I will need a pigtail for the Draw-Tite brake controller I have. I am a long time Wrangler owner and the connections are a bit easier to access. TIA!
I made some progress. I removed the lower piece and think that is the brake controller connector up there in white, bundled with other wiring. Question is now - how do I get to it?
Further progress with some advice from a Gen 6 Facebook group -
I have owned Jeep Wranglers since 1998 and haven't owned a Toyota since my first Toyota Tercel in 1987 and then a 1991 Toyota Celica. I LOVED that Celica.
It seems the 4Runner dash is quite modular and many pieces snap on and off with the right pry tools. Someone suggested snapping off the bottom switch block which gives me access to the towing brake controller connector. I didn't need to remove that lower piece, which did give me some angst.
