I've had a 7-seater LasFit set of liners/seatback protectors for several months now, and I'm wondering if anyone has a better alternative or a solution to this issue. First, the cargo cover doesn't allow easy access to the storage compartments as it's too stiff to fold up easily. Then, the flaps that run up the 3rd row when the seats are up constantly catches under the 3rd row seat backs and slides up underneath to pull off the seat backs. I've tried several things to keep this from happening, but I think I'm just quite disappointed with the LasFit design. I think the material is just too stiff. Has anyone had better luck with an alternative?

I am fairly happy with my LasFit mats, but you have a good point on the storage areas. I find it doable but it would be nice to have it flex better. You gave me a thought though--I wonder if we could cut and hinge it at the back of each storage area, say by gluing rubber or something. Or could even use an actual piano hinge and cover that with a thinner rubber just to seal it a bit.

I cannot comment on the other part as I do not have the 3rd row seating (I barely use the 2nd row). BTW, I have the ORP hybrid, so of course our cargo area is different. Not sure if my ideas would work on the SR5 or other models.

Good ideas! I think I'll keep looking for another option for the 3rd row and cargo mat, but I did a small mod that is getting me by for now and I cut out the 3rd row flap pieces to separate them from the cargo mat. I had the OEM 4Runner mat that came with the car, and that is way more flexible than the Lasfit mat, so it allows you access to the cubbies. It's not perfect at all, but here's what I ended up with for the time being. It's not pretty, but I guess it's protecting something lol:

This still doesn't fix the issue with the flap protector that has to either sit up above the seat back, which means it's not flush, or it gets stuck and tries to remove the seat back protector when you pull it up. So it's not a perfect fix, but at least it makes it easier to get to the cubbies. I'm still searching for alternatives. I wouldn't recommend the Lasfit liners if you end up actually using the 3rd row or the cubbies.
