Finally got out to test and tune the Dobinsons MRR on several hundred miles of Michigans sandy trails. With all the large washboarding these trails get it was a perfect place to test and play with the adjustability of these shocks.

Although i haven't removed the front swaybar, the suspension was very composed, and handled the trails well. The low speed, and more technical areas that required a lot of articulation pointed out that the front swaybar needs to be removed due to it unsettling the front end.

On-road ride comfort and handling are better than stock with the westscott spring perch kit with my wheel/tire package. The Dobinsons also lifted the front another Âľ" over the westscott and another 3" in the rear.

Current modifications are
• Dobinsonusa MRR
Front springs C59-818
Rear springs C59-817v
• JBA UCAs
• Relations Race wheels RG-7H +18
• Nitto Ridge Grappler 315/70/17
• Slee Offroad 4runner stainless compressor mounting solution
• ARB Brushless Dual Compressor
• Rago ditch light mounts
• Redline tuning stainless hood struts(needed for Slee mount)
• Diode dynamics SS3 pro yellow
• SXTHELEMENT Intake and intercooler

Aesthetic modifications.
• Trailhunter Grille
• Sport/pro/trailhunter taillights
• Lip delete

Damn...this is a beautiful and capable looking rig! I love that color and it would have been a serious contender if it was available in the Limited. Do you mind me asking what the ballpark of all of these upgrades were?

Wheels/tires and suspension is the brunt of the expenses and i have done everything but the tires and beadlocks myself, and all of the toyota oe. parts i did get at cost due to a great relationship with my dealership. Its painfully close to 10k at this point as it sits but i also have a powerswitch and a ton of wiring harness to build for lighting and slim down the stock ARB harness, as well as relocating the airchuck to not be underhood.

Intercooler upgrade...I didn't know that this was a thing. Pretty awesome. Could you tell any difference after installing it?

https://sxthelement.com/products/20...ront-mount-intercooler?variant=50200023892266
I had ordered them both and drove with just the intake on for a few days. I ha e been running 93 octane for the last few k to see if any noticeable mileage improvement is made. With just the intake i didnt notice any difference at all in performance. Sounded more lively, but that is it. Once i added the intercooler i noticed a difference especially at around 30mph. It pulls harder. Eventually it will get the AWE exhaust like they have for the 4th gen tacos and i will most likely have OTT tune it. I will say if you removed your hood prop rod and want to do the intercooler, maybe dont pitch it until you have done this. They do say to support the radiator assembly from the hood in thier install video. I just left the bottom passenger bolt in and loosened it quite a bit.

@Gunnarbeardsly how was the install for the SXTH Element Intercooler? I did the Intake already but waiting on another mod to do alongside the Intercooler.

It wasnt the most fun. Their instructions say to support the radiator assembly from a bungie off of the hood, but i have redline hood struts due to the slee ARB compressor mount. I the bottom passenger bolt in but very loose. Once you get the drivers side in by lifting and pushing radiator assembly back to get the intercooler in and repeating for the passenger side. I had it in and back together in an hour and a half, but i have also had the front end apart when i did the grille so i knew how to pull the front clip off already. It can easily be done in 2-3hrs if mechanically inclined.

Yeah I am definitely able to do it myself, was for sure curious about the bungee supports as I also have hood struts. I'm sure I can prop the hood up with a 2x4 or something else as well.

I will be mounting a new front bumper as well so definitely able to get the front clips off.

Thanks for the info, and great build!
