Every time i turn my 4 runner on it will ask me on my phone to connect to carplay and when I say yes my wifi on phone is immediately turned on and then ill get an wifi connection interrupted notification constantly on car screen. If i shut the wifi off on my phone my bluetooth connection shuts off immediately. Any help would be appreciated.

Carplay runs off wifi not bluetooth. When it starts wifi, go to your wifi tab and you'll see its connected to the 4runner

Apple CarPlay uses both Bluetooth (BT) and WiFi.

Bluetooth is initially used for the “handshake” to CarPlay then WiFi takes over.

This is also why if you're having trouble connecting to a dashcam, turning BT off on your phone will also establishment of a connection to your dashcam as, if Apple CarPlay loses connection, it will try to reconnect via BT and wifi, thus, disconnecting your dashcam connection.

Hope this helps.

Apple carplay and Android auto use both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for the connection to your phone. I have external Wi-Fi I use while traveling and or use the built-in Wi-Fi on the head unit. You can't use both, so the best option for me was buying a short USBC cable and plugging your phone directly into the right side of the infotainment centers USB port. That will give you a hardwired connection bypassing the Wi-Fi and allow you to use other Wi-Fi sources whether the built-in one or an external one. Overall the wired connection works better than the wireless connection anyway and the phone seems to charge faster plugged in that way then using the built-in charging pad.
