So it appears in the 4Runner_ChangeHistory.csv file there are currently 62 instances of where a temp VIN changes to a real VIN for a dealer where all the columns are exactly the same except the VIN, and it's not just the letters that change in the last 6 digits of the temp VIN going to a real VIN, but the entire last 6 digits from the few I looked at. That's over 4 days of inventory runs.

The VIN I was given by the dealer on 4/18 with a build date if 4/17, isn’t showing in the change.csv file. Any idea on how I can find what the VIN has changed to?

Was it a temp VIN you were given (i.e. in the last 6 digits there are some letters and not all numbers).
Also it's possible if the dealer wants to hide it so no one calls about it.
See the readme.txt file for how to find out the real VIN the temp VIN changed into.

Gerg-G, thank you for putting the time into developing these tracking sheets, it is the way I found and secured my upcoming vehicle!

Do you think it makes sense to simply roll the change column into the main spreadsheets vs new spreadsheet? I definitely see the advantage of both ways.

So I thought about this some more, and I think at least adding a LastChangedDateTime column in the main spreadsheet would be good to indicate the last date and time any column in that row changed value (with obvious exceptions). That way if the last time a person looked at some columns for certain VINs in the spreadsheet was on Date X and then went back and looked at the spreadsheet on date Y, they could immediately know if something had changed in the columns for those VINs since they last looked, by looking at the LastChangedDateTime date and time for each and it being after Date X. If it isn't then they don't need to look further as nothing has changed since they last looked at it. If it is then they can look at the columns to see if anything interests them, or look at the change history file to see exactly what changed after Date X.

Just a heads up, the following Platinum models seem to be pre-sold even though the sheet isn't reflecting that. I called the dealerships today asking for more info.

The spreadsheets are run once a day and it is entirely possible that the car was sold after that run . That VIN will disappear from tomorrow's run, but show up in the 2025 sold file. That VIN JTEVB5BR1S5007212 information was obtained at 2025-04-30 2:55:41 CDT (the infoDateTime column) so it is likely it was sold sometime after that point in time. Toyota may not even post it as Pre-Sold before removing it from inventory, and it just no longer shows up in inventory.

FYI In the dealer provided status, Vessel Depart Phase, I decided to google “London Highway” thinking it was the departing port location but turns out (in my case) that’s the name of the Vessel.

Knowing this, if you know the name of the vessel, you can track its progress at www.marinetraffic.com.

Mine got put on a QC hold for 35 days when the vessel arrived on 2/26. I finally picked it up on 4/22. Once the hold was lifted it moved quick and arrived less than 3 weeks later. Mine had to go by rail from Oregon to Illinois, then on truck to dealership in Ohio. Looks like you are closer to the port so should be quicker

So my sales person told me my platinum would be arriving at port Benicia on 03/20/25 we I went to the port website they got a delivery of vehicles from Japan on 3/10 and another is set to arrive 3/18 so hopefully mine is on one of the two. So for those of us in Northern California the hybrids should start coming in

Nope. The salesman and Finance person weren’t aware of it. They were getting ready to send us over finance paperwork and we asked if we can quickly give them $500 to make sure no one else snatched the car while we worked on it. Salesman sent us over pictures of the car, sticker and everything.

We get a call about 20 minutes later and after talking to the “Guy upstairs” there was suddenly a $3995 market adjustment. I told them that wasn’t going to work for us, and they said maybe they could “meet us halfway” as if they were doing us a favor.

Told them we would take it for sticker right then and there, but not interested in paying a frivolous markup. They said they would ask again and let us know. Never heard back from them.

Hey team. For those that are in search of your next 4Runner, I came across this sheet. It’s updated 6 days if not 7 days per week by 6am. It’s got every 4Runner trim in allocation, including VIN, ETA windows, all the details. My favorite data point is it will tell you if there’s a DEALER HOLD or not. It will SAVE YOU TIME so you’re not calling dealerships, spending time on Toyotas website.
