Greetings all!

Just got myself a ‘26 Limited and curious of other Limited owners off-road experiences.

Just moved to Las Vegas and want to get outdoors off the pavement.

I don’t need to rock crawl but would like more than a dirt road.

down the road I may add the underbelly TRD plates but only if it’s something the Limited can do/need it for..

looking forward to hearing from yall!

You can watch some YouTube on the limited. It’s perfectly capable to go off road but get rid of the tires asap. It’s doesn’t have the bells and whistles to make hardcore off road easier but it’s still capable for more than dirt roads.

1. get rid of the grandtrek pt5a, they are completely useless even for pavement use and especially snow use.

2. depending on choice, if you do more pavement than off road, you could get by with defender ltx ms2, another option for more of a highway and off road capability is to go with ascent a/t tires. if you want more off road than highway/pavement use, find a R/T tire that suits your needs (but personally stay away from duratrac's, the noise they make at half life thread is loud on pavement)

3. there is a thread on here where someone is slightly converting a platinum to a more off road centric build (since the limited and platinum are hardware wise under the skin the same)

there are other threads i think but the work/detailed involved on getting around the AVS system on the limited/platinum is the biggest issue.

one thread is where you lose complete functionality of the AVS system (but from people have posted and what not, you are not losing much with not having the AVS system. its not that great from my perspective on our 23 tundra platinum and also on our 25 4R platinum)

I traded in a 2023 Mazda CX-50 for a 2026 4Runner Limited a few months ago. I needed better off-road capabilities, particularly when towing our Boreas XT off-road camper.

I’ve been very pleased with the performance of the Limited. Like you, my wife and I don’t do rock crawling, but the Limited has been more than capable of handling the rocky New Mexico terrain.

Other than removing the front air dam and replacing the meep-meep horn with a Toyota Premium horn, I’ve made no changes from what I drove off the lot. I may get a set of dedicated off-road tires at some point, and I’m planning on adding aluminum skid plates.

Unless you’re rock crawling or driving through mud up to your sills, the Limited is very capable. Get off road and have some fun with it!

I've owned my Limited since early Mar, and have been very pleased. My list of mods include suspension, full OEM skid plates, bumper/winch, heritage grill, rack, awning, off road lights, OEM wheels and tires. I feel it's certainly capable to do what I need it to do and have no regrets in buying the Limited trim.
