I think you might be mistaking start/stop function and hybrid battery turning off the engine. Two different functions.
Start/Stop is when you completely stop the car and the engine shuts off until you press the gas pedal.
Hybrid battery can shut off the engine and run on the hybrid battery...
Curious how sport mode would fare... I know the transmission is 1 gear lower so the RPMs are slightly higher but if you're coasting then it doesn't use much gas anyways. You may just have the benefit of the turbos spinning up sooner
I agree with you on this. People either side with anecdotes or stats.
If Toyota really wanted to make some money (not much of a diff), they would've stated to do more frequent oil changes than 10k miles. Anecdote story though: I have a friend who has a 5G 4Runner and he wasn't aware of the...
Sometimes my baby falls asleep in the car so I end up idling at a park or playground while the other kids play with my wife. Or we switch off... but idling only dropped my mpg by 1 mpg when we were out there for almost an hour.
Maybe bc I have it set to tank average and we were closer to half...
I am a firm believer that brisk acceleration up to speed and coasting conserves more gas than if one were to slowly get up to speed.
What are your thoughts?
hahaha, coming from a hybrid vehicle prior... had to learn to hypermile to get the best mpg. So that habit carried over where I pulse and glide and minimize pressing the gas pedal when its a red light ahead or people are stopping ahead.
how many gallons did you fill up after the 292 miles?? 14, 16, etc? There is a thread on MPG... I've only filled up twice and have been averaging 22mpg. On long stretches, I have hit 26-27mpg but city knocks it down some.
First tank was 22.5mpg (70/30 hwy/city)
On my second tank and one quick round trip on my usual path to work hit 26.2 mpg (90/10 hwy/city)
curious what the numbers will be once broken in
