Similar experience in the trailhunter, terrible road quality is exaggerated in the bumpiness, but for most roads the ride quality is enjoyable and feels like what I was expecting and wanting out of this specific trim. On highways and smooth roads it glides and is very comfortable.
I am pretty sure my situation would have gone similar to yours based on the few communications I have with them. I'd post pics of my kit but its just a pile of wooden bits laid out so they could verify the missing part(s). ;)

I have the Trailhunter trim (hybrid engine) with about 2500 miles on it. It is an amazing ride, fast, fun, responsive, it just drives great. I am coming from a challenger scat pack and the torque on the low gears feels very similar. No issues at all, just smiles.
