my sr5 is currently at the dealer for the brake squeal and they put me in a 23 TRD off road. This is my first time driving a 5th gen and I’m amazed by how much smoother the ride is. It’s definitely super slow compared to the 6th gen and the steering is heavy and unresponsive but ride quality is...
I just had this happen again the other day. On a pretty easy dirt road with top speeds of about 20mph. After a mile the temp started climbing. I let it cool when the gauge got to to about 3/4 but I’m sure it would have just kept climbing. I also checked my transmission fluid last night and feel...
If you think that rattle is annoying, wait until they rip your dashboard out. You’ll have so many rattles afterwards that you’ll forget all about this one.
I’ve averaged 21.2mpg over the past 6k miles with a sr5 4x4 with 265 open country’s. If I could go back I would have gotten a 5th gen. The technology on the 6th gen is awesome but I hate the 8 speed transmission.
thanks for the reply. I looked all through the cooling system and can’t find one anywhere. I do not have an extra cooler either. All I have are the radiator and an intercooler for the turbo.
My transmission on my sr5 4x4 is absolute dog poop. Constantly slamming gears, jerks, bucks etc. I went to check the transmission fluid which requires you to pin the thermostat. I don’t have a thermostat. I went to the dealership and looked under a bunch of Tacomas and 4Runners and they all have...
no you just have to overfill the transmission, get it into temp check mode and drain off excess. No different then previous generations of 4Runners and Tacomas with “sealed” transmissions. You do need a pump though.
Has anyone checked their transmission fluid level? My transmission feels wonky as hell at low speeds with some harsh shifts quite frequently. I have noticed that when I turn my AC off the transmission feels 80% better. I asked my dealer to check my oil level during my 5k visit and they refused...
That’s weird. Maybe some programming glitch between electric and gas switch? They’re definitely pretty jerky drivetrains. I feel like I’m constantly jerking and clunking around at low speeds. I think it’s all those short gears stacked on top of each other.
This is while you’re actually on the gas driving? That’s definitely strange.
I have a gas model but I did notice the rpms kind of bounce around 2-3k rpms while accelerating with like 50% throttle. I’m not sure how accurate those digital tachs are. When I hook my obd scanner up to it and watch...
I experienced the same thing last time I was off road in 4x4. I was going down a pretty rutted out dirt road with a few small climbs at like 15 mph. After about a mile I saw the transmission temp climb. I stopped for a couple minutes and put it in 4lo and it went back to normal temp.
5k update. Still sitting around 21.5mpg. I have noticed in the last month by mpgs have dropped by about 1mpg. Not sure if this is due to the fact that it’s been super hot here and I’m cranking the AC on most drives.
My remote stuff through the app only worked for a few days when I first got the 4Runner. I’ve tried reinstalling the app on my phone and doing setup in the vehicle multiple times but I can’t do remote starts or locks/unlocks etc from the app anymore. It doesn’t bother me enough to take a trip to...
I think they are aero blades which are the version before the wingbars? I've had them for probably 8 years now on multiple vehicles. I've never had issues with the rubber strips but definitely wind noise on certain vehicles. No wind noise on the 4runner though.
One thing to mention though is...
