I want to see comparison of hybrid vs non hybrid but it seems every tester is avoiding it. Wheni test drove a land cruiser it felt substantially slower then a non hybrid 4r or Tacoma
I feel the same, i had a 5th gen for years but at sea level the best mpg i could get was 17-18mpg as a stock truck. Now i see 24-26mpg in the 6 gen if i stay under 70-75 mph. The Bilsteins are a bit rough but i also appreciate their body control over the 5th gen
Toyota doesnt make money from oil changes, dealers bearly make a penny from them, from working them i know they would rather extend your intervals to cause more damage and increase your chances of requiring repairs for them to profit from. Your cars health isnt going to make dealers or...
Tundra problem is completely unrelated to this as this isnt a problem, this is natural for every new engine, the tundra was excessive aluminum flashing coming lose into circulation, much larger particles then this dust. Im not sure of your actual engine building knowledge vs your youtube...
To add to what kekecarioca said, the filter does get some particals but engines typically have a split feed out of the oil pump that not all oil routes thru the filter. Also when the filter becomes full it will open a bypass inside and oil will pass around it to prevent starvation .
Exactly as cuttingedgesport said, the 2nd picture shows the old oil filled with metal particles and sealant bits when on a clean engine it would be a pure glossy brown without the metallic effect.
Dropped the oil at the 1000 mile mark to flush out the expected metal particles and will be repeating it at 2500 and 5000.
This is completely normal for all new and rebuilt engines so nothing is abnormal here for people that arent familiar its a visual representation to remind you how dirty...
While I had the factory ARB roof rack off to compare fuel economy I decided to weigh it. It is 45-48lb, that did not include the 4 steel mounts so call it 50lb. It is springy so the scale fluctuated. I found it pretty slick in regards to wind drag. Under 60mph their didnt seem to be much...
In case of those wondering as I do, I like to gather all types of data. So while i had the wheels and tires off of the truck i weighed them. I can add others and make it a collection of information as well.
The factory optioned TRD wheels with AT3Wa,600 miles on them are 65 lb 18x8 et45
600 miles on the odo, stock "upgraded" wheels and tires, with chin spoiler and removed the arb roof rack. Was getting 24.8 with the roof rack and 26.1 without it going to work 50-70 mph random highways. Steady 70 is more around 23s.
That is my problem, the search bar stays blank. Im trying this work around but it still is not functioning. It seems ill just have to save it as favorites. The gps interface is not great. Everything is in weird places and key functions like this are missing.
I wonder how to the roof racks affect mpg. I have 180 miles on my ORP and it has the arb roof rack. You can start to hear it about 80mph.
So far ive been getting about 20-22.5 mostly highway and 19.5 to 20 around town granted it isnt broken in at all. Thats in eco mode.
What a great truck! Coming from a 5th gen and a Cayenne S, I prefer this by far. The engine is peppy, the steering is very good for a suv, the brakes feel way better then the 5th gen. Not to mention the turning radius is great. It feels very nimble around smaller lots. The camera system is great...
