Those ratings have decimal points and are rounded. 23.4 gets rounded down to 23 and 23.5 gets rounded up to 24. The vehicles you’ve listed don’t have the same wheels, tires, or even aero (TRD OR lacks the air dam, as an example). That impacts the system’s overall efficiency.
All things equal...
Yea, with FT 4WD -- like the Limited and Land Cruiser have -- the vehicle can be in 4WD on all surfaces without risking damage to the transfer case. This is because there is a differential between the front and rear prop shafts allowing them to turn at different speeds. Part time 4WD systems...
Oof. That sucks. Wild that they take a feature available on like 50% of the Tacoma volume and limit it to like 8% of 4Runner volume.
I had KDSS on my ‘16 4Runner and missed the thick sway bars when I went to a ‘23 Pro (which admittedly rode a ton better than the ‘16 even though the handling was...
Typically the accessory wheels get the tires that ship with the vehicle. They take the tire off the OEM wheel and remount it to the accessory wheel. That's why the 18" accessory wheel isn't listed as an option on the SR5 (17"), Limited (20"), Platinum (20"), or Sport (20"). That wheel isn't...
The Pro matte alloy wheels are a different offset from what the other trims run. It's like 1" difference in offset which will result in the tires sticking way past the fenders on a non-Pro/Trailhunter. The 5th gen Pro that was more or less the exact same fitment.
Now, there is an 18" TRD...
TH is the option package for SR5 3rd row.
They've never put a 3rd row in the TRD Off Road. Whatever market research they have says that TRD OR buyers don't demand it or are willing to move to a Limited or SR5.
3rd row traditionally wasn't available in the TRD off road. It was always Limited or SR5 in the past. The same carries over for the 6th gen with the exception of the hybrid. If you want the higher performance engine, you have to drop the 3rd row because the battery is in that space.
To build on this, the hybrid is not meant to a be a fuel sipper option versus the standard model. It is the performance powertrain... which we didn't have on the 5th gen. Toyota had 2 basic choices when making a higher performance 4Runner option. The V6TT would be one and adding an electric...
It’s over 30% increase over the V6 on the highway and nearly 20% increase in the city. That’s massive.
AWD adds drag, weight, and cost which hurts gas mileage. Part time 4WD is why the Sport gets better highway gas mileage than the Full Time 4WD Limited.
Trailhunter tacomas have been advertised for $3k under sticker. The pricing is so high on the 6th gen across the board that I think we’ll see discounts before we see sustained markups.
Now, I do think the Pros will be relatively rare, but I think that will just mean waiting until the end of the...
Well, looks like moonroof is not standard on the '25 TRD ORP. Add in destination and apples to apples TRD ORP 5th gen to 6th gen is about a $7k jump. Oof. If I had to have a hybrid, I'd be looking really hard at the mid-grade Land Cruiser. Apples to apples we're looking at $60k versus $65k...
Yea, based on the price jump over the 5th gen, Tacomas having incentives, and the Land Cruiser above the 4Runner also available for money off sticker, I don't think we'll see much in the way of ADM on 4Runners. Maybe the first month or two the wannabe youtube influencers will get raked over the...
I'm not surprised at all. The TRDOR premium was $50k on a platform that was 20 years old. Sure, they bandaided some new tech onto it toward the end, but I expect that most buyers see the driver assist of the 6th gen worth $2k more than the lousy system in the 5th gen just by itself.
