You’re not wrong, but most tires are undersized, including 295/70r18 “35s” mentioned in this post.
Also, I input the width incorrectly on that comparison. 35s can be almost a full inch wider than 295/70r18.
No argument but at the end of the day, the proper calculus is less important than the fact that a tariff exists at all. Even if they shared the 4Runner import tariff across all Toyota models it still increases the cost of the TRD Pro I have in bound which means I’m not buying it
Bottom line, it doesn’t really matter how the tariff is calculated or how much it ends up being. I’m not buying my TRD Pro if there is a tariff applied.
