When you plastidipped the emblem how did you mask it? My understanding is the plasti dip will stick to the plastic parts so I was trying to figure out how best to apply since the whole grille is plastic
Looks great! Love my Underground SR5 - I kept wheels but updated to 265/70r17 Falken Wildpeaks. Also removed air dam. What black lugnuts did you switch to? I'm going to do same but not sure which to use. FYI one thing I've noticed is speedometer and mpg gauge are slightly off now due to the...
I went with the SR5 for the same reason - upcharge was just too much for what it was. All good stuff no doubt, but not stuff I really need/want. I'm happy with mine now at 1,500 miles. Most important to me is build quality and powertrain (same across all non-hybrids) and seat comfort - I like...
I think you're right the process is the same, but having a process in place is not the same as executing day to day on that process by a group of humans. Also materials/components can vary based on local production and available raw materials.
Curious how everyone feels about the fact that the 4Runner is built in Japan at the iconic Tahara plant. My SR5 feels really solid and build quality is very good, but I'm wondering what others think, how much it factors into a decision to purchase (or not) a 2025 4Runner. It definitely made a...
I really like my SR5 and the simplicity - put 265/70r17 Falken Wildpeak SW4s on it - similar to this dealer look, and it makes a big difference in aesthetic but is a little louder and rougher
SL load rating - from what I understand and how I plan to use the vehicle these will be plenty. Ride comfort dropped from the OEM tires, anything worse and I'd likely not want to keep these. C and E from what I hear are definitely heavier and thus a rougher ride.
For the speedometer, you can compare it to what your gps/navigation is saying - I checked on numerous occasions and at 60mph my gps (Waze navigation) always says 58. I also have a speed app on my phone which is saying the same.
For mpg I reset my trip miles after filling up, then after about...
Looks great! Have you noticed difference on the mpg and speedometer readings? I checked mine after installilng 1" diameter larger tires on my SR5 and my mpg reading is now off about 2mpg and speedometer is reading 2mph too fast when going 60mph
Yes
There is a difference. The stock OEM tires are quieter, slightly lower mpg on the Falkens (though I'm not sure if any of it is related to the difference in tire size and what the computer is recording, there is a speed difference by about 1.5mph). Overall it feels more truck-like, but...
I kept them but will sell if I can. Wasn't a trade in option at either the dealer (who did the install) or tire rack (who's quote was higher than dealer)
Wanted to bump up the OEM SR5 tires just a bit, which were 245/70R17 (30.5” diameter).
Installed 265/70R17 Falken Wildpeak AT4W tires (31.5" diameter) on the stock SR5 wheels.

Thanks, yeah I've never plus sized my tires, so wasn't aware of the downstream issues it can cause. I think it's fine since not going too big. Are you concerned about suspension or other components by going to 33.2"?
