Yes, after installing the new steering shaft it’s no longer doing it - vehicle feels so much better! Hopefully this is the end of the issue for good! I’ll report back if it returns.
I describe it in more detail in this thread: https://www.4runner6g.com/forum/threads/strange-thumping-vibration-feedback-coming-from-left-strut-suspension-area-into-steering-wheel.3495/. Note that mine was never really audible - it was haptic through the steering wheel and brake pedal - you...
So I posted in here earlier about the clunking noise I was having in my steering column and brakes. To summarize again I started to notice this at about 2000 miles and it progressively got worse and more frequent.
After the second time at the dealership they confirmed the noise and contacted...
Answering questions from the two above posts here:
1. I left with the vehicle, so they must not think it's a safety issue / parts should arrive in a few days
2. I don't remember noticing it at 200 miles, but it could have started - seems like I really noticed it around 2,000 miles.
3. It first...
Sorry you're having the same issue, but I have good news! Took mine in for 2nd time today as it was happening all the time, like a clunking sound even on smooth roads. Technician drove it, confirmed he heard it as well, and they called Toyota and they are now sending a new driveshaft and will...
I just took my SR5 to dealer today for what may be a similar issue that I began to notice a few weeks ago, currently 2,200 miles on vehicle.
During braking and also sometimes just driving there is a 'clunk' noise in the steering shaft/steering wheel/brake pedal - basically some sort of...
I have about 2,200 miles on mine now. Odometer is at 20.0 mpg with about 65% city / 35% highway driving. I think I lost about 1mpg from removing the air dam and about 1mpg from the tire change, so overall I'm happy with it but hope I bring it up (kind of a fun game).
I changed out tires to 265/70R17 Falken Wildpeaks on my SR5 from 245/70R17 stock. Definitely noticed a slight increase in noise but not bad. I also removed air dam. I went modest with tire size/beefiness (1.3" more diameter) as I was concerned about noise myself. I'm sure as you add up the...
Same situation for me on my Underground SR5 w/3rd row - paid MSRP but traded in my 2020 CRV so that really gave some negotiation leverage and also reduced the taxable sale (trade-in value comes off taxable sale amount), which saved over $1400.
