Hi Yoters. Has anyone experienced this?
I lost all connectivity today... I wanted to start my TH in the morning using an app and it failed twice in a row, then a window popped up asking if I like the app so ( me being me already frustrated with it ) I selected "no". Next I was directed to select the reason so I did ( no connectivity ) and everything went to hell. Nothing works, app was showing blank screen, infotainment screen kept showing " no connectivity messages and such... This is more annoying then the fact that fuel door keeps freezing and I have to brake the ice around it with my credit card to get it open.
If this is "Toyota's tech" then I don't want it...

I have not spent any time with the digital key feature.
Only use the fob.
How does the loss of connectivity or network affect the digital key?
Are you stranded?

from what i can tell it shouldnt leave you stranded, the phone just needs to connect every so many days to verify sub status.

but i really dont want to test it and see where i get stranded at not being either

a. unable to unlock the vehicle (since you dont have a fob that has a sync'd transmitter to the ecu that will work even with a dead fob battery)

b. not like you can put your phone up to the start button and get it to start unlike the emergency feature of the fob

Interesting.
Probably stick with the fob.

I find this SUV to be disappointing in tech interface. It's like there is a 5 year old behind the dash sticking magnets into things.
I would really like to enjoy the unit without constant interruption from the gobbly gook bombardment of messages and ,as above, network problems.
For instance Google maps drops out every time I shut the engine off. Sometimes I have to go through a series of steps to restart Carplay and re connect the phone.
Some car makers are actually scaling this stuff back to pushbuttons and tactile knobs. Much better approach.

It isn't universal. Audi as techie as anyone does a good job with a complicated system.
Even if you totally learned the Toyota system, how many times have you read, I did that once but forget the steps.

you can change the head unit function in the settings to not turn off with ignition off

it will only turn off if you open the door.

i have mine set that way, head unit keeps playing music and everything work until i open the door and then everything turns off.
